Act 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were
baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
Act 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the
apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
We wonder today why the church is falling
apart, we pray we have studies to show why, we have taken aspects of the
entertainment world and brought that in.
Yet here in Acts, we have people who believed,
and continued steadfastly in the Apostles doctrine.
What I notice here is they were steadfast.
How we have begun to reject this premise.
The new converts were staying with the Apostles
and their doctrine continually, please notice that the Apostle’s did not shirk
this responsibility, nor did they say see you next week. No they made
themselves available for the new converts, they shared in their joy and in their wonder. The new
disciples made the Apostles feel young again. They renewed their joy and
reminded them of their experience.
The Apostles did not put out the flame, or push
them out until they had time, no they made time for the new converts, they did
not quench their zeal, or kill the fire. They baptized them and started
teaching them the faith!
The new converts affected the Apostles as much as the Apostles affected the new converts.
Too many times we forget that.
