Col 3:1 If ye
then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ
sitteth on the right hand of God.
If ye then
be risen with Christ, if you are born again in the Spirit then seek those
things that are above.
Now
that is a profound statement. Paul is
writing of the carnality of the Colossians. Take your eyes off this world and
see the world ahead.
This goes in
with what I said a week or two ago about think on these things.
Think on the
things of God and you will draw closer to Him. The Apostle Paul here makes it a
bit more specific though.
He continues
on just in case we are unclear on what he is saying.
Col 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not
on things on the earth.
Col 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid
with Christ in God.
Col 3:4 When Christ, who is our life,
shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
Set your
affection on things above not on things of this earth.
I really
wish Christ had addressed this issue. Oh Wait He did:
Mat 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God,
and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
It is quite
compelling that the same lesson is taught over and over again in Scripture, yet
we still fail the test.
