There was a time when I was young and dumb (yesterday) when I made a very silly statement, in fact I was 16 and still have not forgotten it 37 years later. I looked around and said "God I know you could come at any time but could you please wait till I get married to my girlfriend and blah blah blah.". I have not seen or talked to her in 35 years, yet I remember that day, that statement as if it was a minute ago.
The guilt I feel for letting my selfishness stand in the way of His Will, despite the fact that He hasn't returned, is still fairly large. I am not conceited enough to think He didn't come back because of me, but The fact that I put my wants over His Will is quite embarrassing.
Mat_26:39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
Christ facing the cross, the torture and the pain, the derision, the betrayal, prayed for His wants but declared Himself willing to do whatever the Father asked for. I am in no wise comparing myself to Christ as God, but Christ was just as human as you and I and He stayed true to the Father.
Yes we will have lapses, but is our overarching concern the Father's Will or our wants?
Because when we get right down to it most humans have very basic needs but extravagant wants. Sometimes we confuse the two.
How do you feel about God's Rapture party? Are you looking forward to it or are there so many things you want to experience, or people you can't leave, or things to do, places to go, people to see preferred over His Will?
Jas 4:2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
Jas 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
Jas 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
Have we truly married up our will to His? OR Are we still selfishly thinking of only ourselves and how we are not ready for His return?
Have we got to the point where revival is wanted but not if we actually have to do anything or are we ready to sacrifice 24/7 for His Will, sold out for God, instead of the dollar, the easy chair, the air conditioning, the kids or grandbabies?
Jesus is coming back, His Will is that we prepare for the Rapture, not look for the antiChrist, not live as if we have eternity to get ready, not to live as friends of the world, but to be a witness, a light and ever ready to do the Father's Will.
