We just travelled to Pa from Missouri and back.
On the way out there we made great time, good gas mileage, eyes on the road ahead.
On the way back we had a trailer loaded behind us. Horrible gas mileage, extra care when changing lanes, speeds not as good, more care and concern on what was going on behind us.
I was reflecting on the differences on the way to church.
How many times are we cumbered with an extra load? One that slows us down, takes a lot more of our attention from the road ahead?
Jesus wants to take that burden, many times we want Him to take them, Yet we fail to release the hitch holding on to them and when we leave His presence we continue to carry that burden.
Mat 6:30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
Mat 6:31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
Somewhere along the way in this world we have become more concerned with this life than the next. Our eyes should be on Him, not on the earth.
We carry so much extra weight that we can not get good mileage, our journey is fraught with worry and concern we should not be carrying.
Let go of the burdens from the last trip and move on. Needless burdens can slow you down, cause you to get distracted from the journey you are on and cost you more than you planned.
