What I am about to write may seem like an ego boost but it is not, there is a point I am about to make, So get through the first part to get to the point.
2Pe_3:1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
Remember the time a lady came up to me crying, that something I had wrote changed her heart and never again would she feel unworthy.
Remember the time I preached and another lady cried telling me how she needed to hear it.
Remember the time I received a message from a college student I did not know, had never met and received a message of how I touched her life with my writing.
Remember the time my book was used to help hurting folks in a group therapy session.
Remember the time...
Yet we as Christians must also remember. I started a prayer group on facebook, not just for prayer requests but also for answered prayer, that we might share and remember.
Remember the time you sang a special and a person responded by saying how much they needed that?
Remember the time a friend visited you at just the right moment?
Remember the time God moved in such a way there was no other explanation?
Remember the life that was changed because you witnessed?
Remember the life that was spared because you called?
Remember the $20 you "found" when you needed it most?
We are such a forgetful people that we do not remember exactly as it happened. We revise in our memory, the farther away we get from the miracle the more we try to reshape it in a more "definable" way because surely it did not happen like I remembered.
Exo_17:14 And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.
God always wants memorials, remembrances that we may not forget the Words and Works of past years.
Praise meetings, prayer journals for prayer and answered prayers, these are remembrances we need. We need to share, we need to have these accounts that we remember that , our children also may know and pass down.
Our God is an awesome God, yet we do not remember. Yes we have His Word, yes we have His Spirit.
Yet, we do not remember, we do not make memorials, we do not share, we do not leave for history (immediate (tomorrow) and future (next year)).
Remembrance shows up in 52 verses in the Bible. Jesus said do this in Remembrance of me speaking of the last supper. It is important to God that we remember.
There must be an account for the history of today and yesterdays miracles, not just the long ago that we never personally experienced.
Today's Christian does not share, communicate of the miracles, the daily victories, with others, leaving most to feel as if God does not Work today, that His Spirit does not move today.
We have greater access to people than ever before yet we share less. Why? For fear of being ridiculed? For fear no one wants to hear what I have to say? Or because it makes me seem like I am overly proud?
Be proud of your God and His Work in your life.
Every instance of someone being touched by anything I do is because of the Spirit not me, and I am very aware and give God the Glory. The reason I talk of me and what happens in my life is because I can attest to the truth of it, it is not hearsay, it is relevant, personal and relatable for others.
Pride is what will keep you from spreading what God did, Fear will keep you from talking of your victory, your miracle.
We the people need to share, Communicate, both for today and for tomorrow.
Share with others that they too may rejoice and share in the miracles and wonders of God in your life. Praise and pray together in the good times as well as the bad, for God is God in both.
