Luk 16:27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:
Luk 16:28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment
I have the weirdest thoughts at times. Such as how many times do you think Abraham had to have this conversation with folks who went to hell?
Have you ever thought of those that have gone to hell and been in immediate torment, thinking of the times they rejected the Word, the times they heard of the Truth and just walked on? The families they have left behind and how much they do not want those family members to join them in that torment?
There are those of you who will point out that this was not a factual accounting, but a parable that Christ told. Ok. Does it make the premise any less real?
We know that on the last day at the Great Judgment we shall have our tears wiped away, meaning we will see them, know them and watch them being tossed into eternal flame, torment Hell.
We also know there is weeping and gnashing of teeth in hell, a want for a drop of water, a place of eternal regret and torment.
So how many times do you think this conversation actually took place?
Look at it from the other side. Lazarus knew the rich man, saw him in hell, and remembered. How many times did someone from the Heaven side go and ask that they be told even more, even harder, even more urgently for the souls of their families who do not believe?
How many saved folk got to heaven and saw the true reality of hell and regretted all the times they did not witness, speak up and tell them of Jesus?
Christians in America have gotten away from the Hell and damnation part of the Gospel, but it is true. You will watch folks be tossed into eternal damnation.
We have lost our sense of urgency, we have lost our passion for souls. We no longer beg and plead, no we are too proud to beg, "if they do not want to hear I do not want to tell them" mentality. Well church we will answer for our lack of effort, care, and concern.
We will answer for each and everyone we did not tell. God will not put up with your stupid excuses. He wants only to hear that you did or did not, not "reasons".
It is time that we got back to offending the world with the Truth. It is time we got back to selling out for God. It is time we got concerned for the souls of the gas station clerk, the taxi/uber/lyft driver, the plumber, the doctor, the crossing guard etc.
