Have you ever stopped to consider the words of God in Job 33?
God speaks to Job:
Job 38:1 Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
Job 38:2 Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?
Job 38:3 Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.
Job 38:4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.
Do you see what God is saying? Where were you when I created everything? Who are you to question me, the created questioning the Creator?
God is the Creator, He put you and I here to further His purpose, who are you and I to question Him? Who are you and I to tell Him how to do what He has been doing long before we came onto the scene?
Just like our kids when we say listen to me, it will make your life easier, so too does God. Yet just as our kids we ignore that most valuable advice for surely we are new and special and different. The rules that everyone else has ever lived by do not apply to me.
God is God. His ways are not to be known and seen and understood by us, until He decides to open our eyes.
You can see this happening in the New Testament as Christ walked with the disciples.
Luk 9:45 But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him of that saying.
God oftentimes hides what He is doing until He is ready for us to know, until we are ready to handle that knowledge!
He does it again in Revelations, He gives John so much info for us but, there is a part that we are not allowed to know, John is told to get rid of the evidence of this part of the future.
Rev 10:4 And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.
God operates from a position that none of the rest of us could ever understand. He operates from a knowledge that is all encompassing, He can take past present and future into account all at once, we can only take full knowledge of the past into account as we make decisions.
God is Sovereign.
God's Sovereignty is not in doubt. Whether you believe it or not, whether you give Him your heart and life, doesn't matter He is still God, The Sovereign God.
He wants your life as His totally.
He wants your Church, your family, your work totally as His.
Is He? Have you given it to Him fully? Do you serve for His pleasure or because you have to, mom and dad expect you too, or people are expecting to see you so you have to, Or perhaps it might even be who you go to church to see. Has church become a social club for you?
God is Sovereign and He wants you to serve Him because YOU want to, because He is God and He died for you and is worthy of your service.
That is what He wants. He wants you. No more no less. He wants gladness and singing and praise, and talking and walking with YOU.
He is Sovereign with or without you. He prefers it be with you.
I believe this is where we have gone wrong in the churches today. We no longer give God sovereignty, we no longer hold Him sacred and supreme. We no longer truly accept Him as the head of the Church. Oh we pay Him lip service and we act as if we truly seek His Will, but we do not in actions, or practice believe this.
In the church we have become so complacent, so narcissistic that we would not know Him if He did show up.
We have made the process, or the rituals our god. We have left the Sovereign God out of our Worship service because He might ask us to actually do something.
I am going to leave this with a verse, one I have used before but in the church of America today I believe it is a very relevant verse.
Isa_29:13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
