Jonah’s message

 There are those who say we can not preach sin and repentance in today’s world. That we can not sing the old hymns, the world doesn’t want to hear that, they want to be entertained, they want to be told of God’s love. 

Love them that is all we can do, we can not tell them of His judgment, their sin, and the coming death they will face for all eternity.

Yet Jonah did that very thing in a message that turned Nineveh to God. A large city, with a population of approximately 120,000 he reached with a simple message.

Jon 3:4  And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.

Jon 3:5  So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.

Jomah preached a message of coming judgment, not appeasement, Jonah preached a get right message.

Do you know where Jonah got the very message he preached?

Jon 3:2  Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee. 

God did, that is who gave Jonah the message, when you stand and preach God's Word, the Word He gave, He will bring the increase. He said that is what He would do therefore He must do it.

So many have gotten away from that basic truth, Preach God's Word not opinion, not homilies or down home factoids. Keep the politics to a minimum, keep the sports out, and preach the Gospel!

1Co 3:7  So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. 

We call the Gospel the Good News, and why is that? Because it is the good news of Christ who came and paid the price for all mankind that they could escape Hell. We call it the Good News because it is Good News and the world is waiting to hear it. They are getting falsehoods, heresies, prosperity theory gospel, not The Gospel of Jesus, life changing Gospel.

There is a world that needs to hear this message and even though you may not think so, here in America there is a greater need than ever for the Gospel of Christ.

The lives that need changing, the souls that need to be redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb.

 Jonah preached a simple God given message.

Billy Sunday, D.L. Moody, the Apostle Paul, Peter, all preached a simple message, Christ and Him crucified.

If it worked for 2000 years why must we change it now for "modern" man? We mustn't. We must preach the same Gospel straight from the Bible.

Lives will change, souls will be saved and there will be awakenings.
