You know, too often we get caught up in Judgment day The Great White Throne Judgment, Neglecting that before that there will be a judgment day for Christians.
We are so very careful to post about the day every knee will bow and every mouth shall proclaim Christ as Lord, Forgetting that the very day we should be dreading most is the Bema Seat Judgment.
2Co 5:9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
2Co 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
The Bema seat, as this judgment is called is for the believers and the believers alone. We have had our sins forgiven us, therefore there will be no sin or sinners there, this is the reckoning hinted at by the parables of the talents. This is where God judges us, the believers, based on what we did with what He gave us.
Paul in the next verse goes on to describe why this matters in our service:
2Co 5:11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
Knowing the terror of the Lord.
We are to be judged based on our works, The Gospel message we did/or did not spread. The acts of kindness or lack thereof. The Charity of Spirit, the Witnessing, the Sheer amount of our lives spent for Him or wasted. The Believer should be so motivated by this that there in the forefront of our very thoughts is disappointing our Father, and having to hear Him tell us, having no reward. For our God will not be giving out participation trophies. He is an Honest Just and Pure God, He has to honor those who do His work and He must also point out our deficiencies in serving Him.
The Bema seat judgment shall be held just after the rapture, during the tribulation here on earth. We shall have the Bema seat when God takes care of family business when it is just family.
The Holy Spirit shall be removed from the face of the earth and there is no presence of the Lord anywhere but in heaven. This (my opinion) is so that His full focus is on the accounting that every single Christian must give of themselves. After the Bema seat there is the Marriage supper of the Lamb, the celebration with His family.
Folks I don't know how to say this any plainer.
He will judge us on our service or lack thereof. All those who say God is Love, and Peace, no Judgment, no disapproving, no worries if I don't witness or testify or go to church or bear an example.
This will be the time that all those who think that way will be sadly mistaken, if they even make it to the Bema Seat.
God knows His own and they know Him and they do His bidding. God knows what His Word says and all those who twist it to say what they want, to mean what they want to hear, to read it but belittle the blood, defy the Deity of Christ, Minimize sin, and basically twist and turn it to what they want to hear. God knows the difference.
We, as men, cannot tell whose heart is pure and just. We, as men, can tell the heart of no one.
However, we can judge, based on their works, their alignment to His Word, the FEAR of the Lord as to whether or not they might be truly His.
In this time we have left before the rapture we should move as if there is no tomorrow. We should act as if tomorrow is our day of judgment. Bear in mind I am not saying the rapture is nigh, nor am I saying it is far off, I am saying to make the most of the time YOU have left.
Stop bickering with fellow brothers over minutiae, if your brother and sister are doctrinally sound the we are co-laborers in Christ and should focus our efforts on the lost.
Rom 14:10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
Rom 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
Rom 14:12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
The thought of our disapproving Father, disappointing Him should be enough to move us into action. If that isn't enough then look at everyone you pass every day, who might be thrown into the lake of fire because you didn't speak for fear of offending. Who will be in eternal torment because you were uncomfortable speaking of God and Christ.
The cashier, the grocery worker, the waitress, the drive through attendant, the taxi driver, the neighbor you lived next to for 20 years who has never heard of Jesus, and the sacrifice He gave for all mankind.
You say "well they see me go to church and should ask" should they? Do they also hear you cussing when the mower doesn't start? Do they also hear the way you talk to you spouse? Do they also see you spending more time chasing after the dollar than souls?
Which of us can say we did enough? Not one single person should ever, could ever say I did enough. For Christ died that all men might come to Him.
Until the day we die you can never say I did enough.
There is coming a day of judgment but not the one you think of.
Are you ready for that day? Will the Father be proud of you and say well done Good and faithful servant?
Or will all your rewards (if any) be wood, hay and stubble?
