When animals die we tell the young ones that their favorite pet who just died is in doggie heaven, or in cat heaven. When some one we know and love dies we are told they are in a better place.
They were good people and they are in a better place.
But are they?
We have so far removed ourselves from the very thought of hell that we can not bring ourselves to speak of someone being sent there, for fear of making the one who just lost a loved one suffer more.
We hear people say "if only I could glimpse heaven for a second oh how wonderful".
Well what about seeing hell for a few seconds?
What might that do to motivate you?
We have been so conditioned to be polite and nice and not offend that we no longer preach of death and hell.
We have stopped believing that it is real, we have stopped telling people it is real. We have stopped living as if it is real. We have stopped preaching that if you do not accept Christ you will be in Hell forever and forever.
If you listen to some unsaved folks they say I am going to hell cause that is where my friends are and we are going to party.
Luk_16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
Luk 16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
They do not know the truth of Hell that it is a place of eternal torment. It is a place of eternal darkness. It is a place that no one in their right mind should ever want to go for 1 minute let alone for a full eternity.
You say I believe it is real, but do you? You say it is real, but do you testify of it to save those you know from torment? From weeping and gnashing of teeth? For eternity they shall want a drop of water and there will be no relief. For an eternity they will regret their rejection of Christ, They will remember their ridicule of anything good and Holy.
Do you weep for souls that will forever be cast into a pit reserved for the devils and the angels who tried to overthrow God?
Hell was made for the devil, who stood in Heaven and thought he could be as God, and for a third of the angels who followed him in that rebellion. Hell was created for them.
Hell is their final destination, they will pay for their crimes against God. They will pay for their crimes against humanity.
Hell is also a place that any who turn their back on Christ and His sacrifice on the cross will go. Any who do not receive Him shall go to Hell.
Now you say how could a good and loving God throw people into a place like that?
2Pe 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
2Pe 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
2Pe 2:6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;
2Pe 2:7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:
2Pe 2:8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)
2Pe 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
That good and just God created earth, Gave His Son to die for you, and then gave you the Bible and the Holy Spirit. That good and just God has done everything so that you will know of the Truth of sin, the Truth of His Son and the Truth of Hell.
He has given so much that if you reject Him it is truly their a willfulness that is purposeful.
Here's the question.
What are you doing with your knowledge of Hell?
Are you out testifying to keep all out of hell?
What about your baby girl, or your baby boy? You know that sweet angel you tuck into bed every night. Are you witnessing for them? If not they will go to hell.
What about that precious grandchild?
What about your mother that dear old saint, your father?
Are you witnessing or will you one day watch them being cast into the fires of hell as you stand there knowing full well it is your fault.
One day you will stand before God as those lost souls are tossed into eternal torment and you shall know them and they shall know you.
They will spend all eternity in hell and their last sight will be of you who didn't testify or witness, and of The God they rejected.
That will forever be in their thoughts and on their tongues.
How we have failed them. How we didn't tell them.
How we in our laziness, in our safety and security of our salvation didn't tell them because after all someone will.
Am I my brother's keeper? On that fateful day you will be. On that final day you will be crying over every lost soul that you failed.
You will see sister brother mother father grandchild, great grandchild tossed into hell and you will know the truth.
You failed them.
You will see the store clerk you saw every day, the bus driver, the teacher, the mailman all tossed into that fiery pit if they do not come to a saving knowledge of Jesus.
And they will see you.
You will know you failed them, and they will know you failed as well.
Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
