Read a story. More of an account/interview really, of a band member from the nu-metal group KORN. Seems he found Christ who healed his life, and his family.
This man is all tattooed up, long hair, heavy metal guy.
Christ found him.
In the interview he tells of how some christians look at him and can't understand him.
This guy gets it. He is now an ambassador to an area that would probably never be reached by the "main stream" christian.
God did not save you so that you could sit and relax, he saved you and sent you back to the battlefield. Whether that battlefield be the office, the band, the etc.
God did not say do not associate with them, for if you did that how would they know?
God wants you to use your talents to reach a world that is crying out for Him.
Personally, never listened to korn. Could not tell you a single thing about them, but if this guy can reach them for Christ doing what he does then more power to him.
The young man says the drugs and the drinking are not part of his life any longer so he is separate from them. He is unique among them and he is reaching them the way he knows how. He asked his daughter's blessing before he went back out on the road to keep his family intact and strong.
Sounds to me like a guy who has a changed heart.
That is after all what Christ is after.
Mat 12:33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.
Mat 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
Mat 12:35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
Mat 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
Mat 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Out of the heart cometh forth the evil and the good things. Christ wants to change the hearts and minds of man. The new life of man will change the lifestyle.
It is not what we eat or drink that defiles us but what comes out of our heart.
Anything that goes in will leave the body eventually, it is nothing more than that. But what comes out of the heart is what defines who you are. Thought and word show the true character of a man.
Mat 15:10 And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:
Mat 15:11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
There is no way we are going to reach these people if we do not go out among them. Don't just sit there in church hoping they see you go in and out every week, Get out to them!
Don't try witness by osmosis or telepathy, get out to the highways, and the by ways, the back alleys, the drug dens, the bars, the areas they go and get them to Christ.
The woman at the well went back to her town and told everyone. Knowing this woman and her past they were amazed that she had changed and went to see the man who was responsible.
The lepers went back to their kind and told them of Jesus.
The demon possessed that He healed went and noised it abroad that they had been healedand wh ohad healed them.
They could reach people that we could not because they were like them, of them, and known.
Use your previous life before Christ as an launching pad to get to them. Don't glorify it but do not hide from it.
Use your testimony to reach them.
Use your difference now that you have Christ as a fishing line to bring them to Christ.
If He came and only called those of us who are clean cut, well dressed then what hope does the homeless have, or the ghetto, or the drunkard, the streetwalker have?
They are waiting for us they just do not know it yet.
To be a good Christ follower you do not have to wear a 3 pc suit, go to a fancy "approved" church, or be solemn and grim while voicing your love for Christ.
To be a good Christ follower you just have to be out there following Christ and His example.
Do not get caught up in who is and who isn't the "proper" Christian.
Be more about being the best Christian and ambassador you can be and let the rest take care of itself.
Christ came to SEEK and to save that which was lost, not just yell at them and tell them how they should do it.
Christ saved them from their sins, and told them to love God and their neighbor.
Then He told them to go to all the world and preach the gospel. Whether it be next door, next state, next country GO and preach the Gospel.
That Christ is Lord.
That Christ is Hope.
That Christ is the way the truth and the life.
