loyalty

My wife was watching a tv show this morning and in it a woman cut herself up to prove her loyalty to someone. Now I know it’s just tv all make believe but that led me off on a thought.

We have people who worship falsely in Islam and they are willing to throw everything away for their “faith”. In reality they are doing it for a future reward of 72 virgins in their version of heaven. They think they will be rewarded eternally for a few minutes of pain. However on a side note it's never the old "wise" men who do this, it's generally the young they corrupt and pervert who do this. The old "wise" men know it's not reality.

We have others who will sacrifice anything time, family, etc for financial gain.
We have some who sacrifice deeply to make sure their children have everything but what they need most.

You will find out where your loyalty lies by what you sacrifice for.
Your truest self is realized by looking at what you are willing to sacrifice for. What you desire most as defined by your actions not by your words.
Not just what you bring into your life but what you push out of your life.
Do you go out of your way to attend church or do you find the slightest reason to not attend?
I get that some of us work in industries that cause us to work during the church service times, but does your church still know you?
Do you still make time for God and His Word? Do you still maintain a relationship with Christ despite the work hours?
If you can attend regularly, do you?
There are some that when junior gets the sniffles everyone stays home to "care" for him.

We have people who will blow themselves and others up for their faith.
We have records of "religions" where parents would literally sacrifice their children for their false gods.
We have people who will give stuff up for Lent, monks who give up speech, nuns who take vows of chastity for life.

Then we have those of us who claim to know Christ and God in a way they do not, that will not get out of bed to attend church because it is our one day off.
Those who like the Pharisees of old carry an outward image of piety and inwardly are whited sepulchers, talking empty words not followed up by action.

Where is our loyalty?
Is it to the paycheck? to the vehicles? the new house the new furniture the next vacation?
Is it to the children's future here on earth but to the detriment of the eternal life?

Jas 2:14  What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
Jas 2:15  If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
Jas 2:16  And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

Actions, Show me your faith by works. You can have works without faith, but you can NOT have faith without actions backing it up.

Loyalty is heard in our words, but proven in our actions.
God has remained loyal to His Word and His people.
Christ sacrificed Himself for us. That's Love. That is Loyalty. When the very Creator of Life will die to provide even more Life.

What do you sacrifice? time? Money?

Do you sacrifice?

Or perhaps more importantly do you sacrifice for Him or for you?
