I shall not want

There are several passages of Scripture that I can tell what the occasion is based on the scripture being read.
It is kind of sad that we have pigeon-holed certain scriptures for certain times.
We teach and believe the Bible is good for all occasions, but we do not practice it.

There is one that should be a daily motto instead of just at funerals.

Psa 23:1  A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
Psa 23:2  He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
Psa 23:3  He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Psa 23:4  Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Psa 23:5  Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Psa 23:6  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

The Lord is my Shepherd and I shall not want.
That's a daily thing!
Just like the Lord's prayer that we use to teach prayer models, this should be taught as a life model not as a funeral dirge.

The Lord is my Shepherd daily, hourly. He takes care of me, He provides.
He gives peace and rest if I but lay all my worries at His feet and leave them there.

Though I walk in danger and uncertainty He is there beside me.
What greater peace is there than to know that His Will keeps me alive no matter what until the time He has appointed for me to die.
He comforts in times of trouble and distress.

Why would we pull out this scripture only at certain times?
This is one of the most uplifting and powerful passages in the Bible.

The Lord is my Shepherd daily I should commend me life into His Hands and thank Him for the care and concern, the watchfulness and vigilance.

The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want. He is the Bread of Life, He is the Water that gives Life.

The Lord is My Shepherd, He keeps me, He guides me, He protects me and I know His voice.

The Lord is My Shepherd.
