This is going to be a bit personal so bear through the beginning parts please.
When I first started writing these blogs I was kind of searching my way through my faith for myself. I have been writing for 8 years now and a lot is opinion some is personal and some is because it burned in me and stayed in my head hour after hour until I wrote it.
The very beginning was Somebody. That started it all. after that a few people read it and it became an idea, then a blog, then a book..
It was turned into a book because of a sweet dear woman named Debbie Rae who has since departed for home and my wife thought other people would love to read it.
Once published several people ,Debbie Rae being one of them, were touched.
She came to me with tears in her eyes telling me she would never ever feel worthless again after reading my post "Are you worthless? No Christ died for you".
Another man, smart educated talented and an all around good guy (George of the Jungle reference) used it daily for his own personal devotions. I respect that man a lot and the fact that it was good enough for him touched me deeply.
A man I had just met heard about my book and that I was the author and he told me how he knew of it. He had lost his wife about 8 months before I met him, and at his grief counseling group the book was pulled out and used to address grieving people. My book, my words were used to help grieving people.
Now when people ask why I do this, why I write, that is why. It's not for money or fame. That will never happen if I can help it.
It's about one.
One life, One mind touched.
The journey of a thousand steps starts with one.
One is the reason.
My wife and I make no money ,in fact it costs us a good bit to publish, but we do not count the cost, we look at the reward of one.
Ok I said all that to get to this.
One.
There is an old proverb in which a man who was old and frail went to vote in his town election. everyone was busy and working and going about their lives, too busy to cast a vote. This old frail man barely made the voting times cast his vote and decided the whole election.
One.
The battle of Gettysburg was a fierce battle but one of hundreds, that one battle changed the whole of the civil war.
D.L.Moody said " “The world has yet to see what God can do with a man fully consecrated to him. By God’s help, I aim to be that man.”
I will never claim to be in D.L. Moody's class ever or even in his orbit, but the power of one is what he was looking for. He aimed to be that one man.
When God used His judges He chose one.
When God used Moses He chose one.
When God moves He uses one even today. A preacher must stand alone proclaim the word of God to the many. the many become one as they walk out of the church to spread the Gospel.
The ripple effect in a lake spreads over the whole lake. Take the smallest pebble you can find toss it into a body of water and see the area affected by the smallest, tiniest one.
Christ told us:
Mar 4:30 And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?
Mar 4:31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:
Mar 4:32 But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.
The smallest faith, the smallest man, the smallest action can set forth a ripple of effect that can shake the very foundation of the earth.
But it starts with one.
One idea one thought one man one woman.
