A simple thought look and Live.
Look to the Cross of Christ and Live. For therein is salvation. Therein is Hope.
There in the cross of Christ is healing, sanctification, peace and joy.
Look and Live.
The cross of Christ was foreshadowed in the Old Testament when the people of Israel angered God and He sent serpents among them. Moses beseeching God to stop the snakes was told:
Num 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Num 21:7 Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
Num 21:8 And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.
Num 21:9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.
I can't help but think that even then some thought that was a stupid idea, why would I look to something for healing? Look and live? that's it? Where is the medicine, the doctor?
We do that even today. Doctors, hospitals and medicine all have valid uses, yet look to the cross and live!
They may be able to heal this old body but can they give me life everlasting? Can they give me peace and comfort for the soul? Can they heal the guilt of sins past and present? Can the doctors stay with me after they discharge? Can they provide peace of mind knowing that no matter what my God is in control?
Look and live.
Christ foretold of His death using the example of Moses and the serpent raised for the Israelites.
The Son of Man must be raised for all to look upon and live. For therein is the way of salvation.
Joh 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
Joh 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
His yoke is light.
Unlike some so-called religions, He doesn't desire you to sacrifice yourself in jihad, or to kill any who disagree, He does not require works to prove your worth.
He did the work for you. Unlike other so-called religions God has given you a choice. Look or do not. The ball is in your court.
All you have to do is look and live.
Too easy right? Surely that can't be all it takes.
I must have to do something. sacrifice something, work to salvation.
Working your way to heaven, can it be done? No one has ever definitively told me how many works I must do to make the grade. Or who judges me on those works to make sure they qualify as "good works".
My God provided to me and you the way to heaven, to salvation, to life eternal.
Look on the cross of Christ, and live! That's it.
Do not look to the church, the pastor, the president, the U.N., or any other man or man-made organization.
Man can stumble and fall, man can lie, con you, or have their own self-interests at heart.
The cross of Christ is eternal. It will always stand as The symbol of salvation.
God did all for you, He created us, He provided for our salvation after our sin, He suffered and died here on earth so you can Live.
It does not matter who your parents or ancestors were, murderer or Preacher, teacher or felon, senator or bum, it does not matter what you have done, Robbery, immorality, lying, whom you have betrayed, who betrayed you, what you did, where you came from. Whether you are in jail, or in a big ole house. Rich or poor. None of this matters.
All that matters is that you look and live.
