Sermons from the past

I have been listening to sermons from the past.
Jack Hyles, Curtis Hutson, Lee Robertson, Billy Sunday etc....

Let me tell you what we call preaching today is no where near what these men preached.
What they preached about you won't even recognize. They preached on sin that we accept as normal today. They preach out and today's world would be offended from word one.
They preach out and your heart would cry seeing what they preached against so readily accepted today.
They preached the gospel, they preach the blood, they preached obedience, they preached modesty, they preached the TRUTH.

If you listen to these men you will hear men - true men no soft spoken smilers, but MEN of God putting forth the truth and they will, if you listen right, sear your conscience. They will convince you of the need for God fearing people to rise up and speak the truth!

Jack Hyles preached against penthouse, and playboy, what would he say today of pornography where you can see every depravity known and unknown to your imagination? His sermon make a covenant with your eyes will tear you apart.

Curtis Hutson preaches to women of yesteryear about their modesty, imagine if he saw the women of today.

R.G Lee preaches of a payday someday and we are paying today for our lack of principled stands.

Billy Sunday preaches of Prohibition and many today would not understand the absence of alcohol in cities counties and states due to his Bible preaching.

These men called right - right. They called wrong - wrong. Sin - Sin.
They teach and preach the Good news of Christ. They preach the Word of God.
They did not care if you heard offense they preached what God said and they preached what God wanted.

These men preached what Bob Jones always said " do right, do right, till the stars fall do right".
They did not preach to do the easy thing or the acceptable thing, they preached to do what God says. What the Word of God says.

Let me tell you they have gotten to me so many ways. So many ways they have gotten to my heart my conscience and hopefully to my life.
I go through their list and look for what I need to hear based on the titles, and trust me I have heard a lot on what I need to hear.
There is no " I'm ok your ok" nonsense.
Just you are a sinner, I am a sinner and except the blood of Christ be applied you will die in your sins and go to Hell.

They preach and take no prisoners just victory on sin. They preach no room for sin but Holy Living based on the Word of God. They preach Bible only, no opinion pieces from the pulpit. If it ain't in the Word of God It does not get time from the pulpit.

They preach black and white no gray areas.

They are so much of what this world needs to hear. No frills. No big bands orchestra or entertainers in the pulpit, just the Word of God.
They built major ministries just speaking the truth.
Today we have major ministries built on what people want to hear, not what they need.

These men stood in the gap and made a difference, these men you knew were men. They sttod out in a crowd as being different, they stood out as being beacons of light to a world that was crashing and falling apart in the dark.
What would they say of this world today?
What would they say of what we call 'men of God' today?
What would they say of the Christian of today being as tolerant or accepting of sin today as the mainstream world was in their time?
Our lines have moved and softened as the world has gotten more depraved around us.
We just haven't noticed because we are no longer straight and true.
We didn't notice that we softened because the world has gotten so much darker, but these men will remind you of the Godly life, sin, righteousness and faith. They will remind you of what it means to make a stand, a true stand for God.

I pray daily for men to come along who will stand up for God, as these men did. Men who will preach Hell damnation, justification through faith, The cross of Christ, and the role - the true role of the church in this world.

Be not deceived God is not mocked whatsoever a man soweth that will he reap.
Not only man, but a church, a nation, and this world. We have sown what we reaped and I for one do not like the harvest.
We have reaped sin, death, complacency, blindness, and a loss of our purpose.
