the other day I was thinking "all this going on in this world and a good christian man like me".... And there I stopped. Good? Really?
Rom 3:10 as it is written there is none good no not one.
Christ died for us, for our salvation.
God sent Him, made the plans, put the plans in place.
We did nothing for it except cause the need for it.
Christ died on the cross, thereby allowing us to be justified through Him and His work so we may be adopted into the family of God.
We are justified through Christ which enables us to talk to a Holy and righteous God.
Because of the work of Christ, we are saved and justified before the eyes of God.
The process of sanctification starts upon salvation, God even provides us the Holy Spirit to help in that process. God has provided His Holy Word to help in sanctification. God gives us His time and His answer to our prayers to help in that process.
How can we be good if we caused the need for all this?
How can WE be good if we did nothing to make all this happen?
We can not. We are not.
We are completely and totally reliant on His Grace and His Mercy. His work made it possible. His death and suffering raised up on that cross made this all possible.
We are not good Christians, nor can we be.
We are merely followers of Christ, we can only strive through prayer and study to emulate Him.
When we sin we confess and repent. He forgives.
How insignificant this should make us feel.
How extremely valuable this should make us feel.
That the Almighty Creator, the Lord God Jehovah did all this for us.
He is Good.
He is Holy.
He is Just.
We are not worthy. Yet He has provided us with a way that we through Him might be considered worthy.
Through our acceptance of Christ and His death burial and resurrection.
Thankful yet?
Salvation and justification happened on the day you turned your life and heart over to Christ.
Sanctification, the process of being holy as He is Holy started that same day.
However sanctification will never be complete as long as we are here on this earth, in this world.
We can only try to be the best example of the love of Christ that we can be.
This is the struggle we face daily. Striving for His best will help us to be at our beat.
Ephesians 2:8-9KJV
8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:9Not of works, lest any man should boast.
