Have we grieved the Holy Spirit?

Have we grieved the Holy Spirit?
Have we stifled His power?
Are we the reason He no longer works in the mighty ways He used to?

Our devices, tv, phones, mobile games etc. have distracted us, our hectic schedules all have distanced us from the quiet time that used to be spent with Him.
Years ago there used to be all day services with hours devoted to prayer and communing with the Spirit.
People would sit quietly together praying, waiting for the still small voice of the Spirit. Beseeching and begging, praying and asking,  seeking and searching. Not letting go of the Spirit until He moved among them.

The power of the Holy Spirit is undeniable.
It is a power we can tap into if we but look for Him, pray for it, search and seek Him.

We have lost the connection of the Spirit because we have lost the time and devotion. We have decided we can do it on our own. Or perhaps even worse we have decided He is God He can do it without us. He very well can yet He longs for us to Yield to Him, to worship Him, serve Him, and spread the Good News.
We have changed the roles of God and man. We have made Him a servant, to show up on our time, at our convenience.

Luke_11:13  If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

Eph_4:30  And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Act_2:4  And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

The Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost gave the Apostles the power to speak in the tongues of all those present and listening in Jerusalem. He gave the people listening the ability to hear in their own language, to increase their understanding.
Today He gives us the power to understand the Word of God, to rightfully divide the Word of Truth.

1Jn_2:20  But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.

He leads us to Christ.
He helps us to understand the scriptures.
He convicts of Sin.
He is the voice that tells you what is right and wrong.
He is the one who leads.
He is the one who intercedes with God for us.

Rom_8:26  Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Have we grieved the Holy Spirit?
We are no longer in tune with Him.
We no longer have the time to be quiet and listen.
Do we earnestly search and plead? or do we want Him to fit into our schedules and the 3 minutes we have allotted Him?
Do we ask for Him to come and work in us only when we have time?
Is prayer and church an inconvenience?
Is God merely an abstract? Or is He real in your life?
Take time to listen to the still small voice.
But it will take time.
Make time!
Time to hear His voice, know His Voice, and know His thoughts.
Time to see His Will, read His Word.
Time to do His Work.
Time to be His Friend.
Time to Listen.
