I was thinking today, as I am wont to do, as to why we do not have the power of God that Peter, James, and John had.
Why?
They had the same Holy Spirit we do, they had the same God we do, and they had the same savior we do.
Yet Peter was able to heal a lane man.
Ananias and Sapphira died at the mere thouggt of Peter knowing they had lied and sinned.
Paul survived shipwrecks, snakebites, stonings. Paul knew the future (some of it at least), Paul wrote most of the New Testament.
Why can't we tap into this same Spirit?
Elijah and Elisha had the same God, the same Spirit we do why can't we do 1/10th of what they did?
Why?
We know from the Book of James that God is no respecter of persons, that God views us all as His children, the same in His eyes. No specialness, no favoriteness.
So why?
Where are our great and mighty works?
Yes we have the bible, we have their example, their words and Christ.
Yet why must we rely solely on Word?
Why can we not have the Spirit of God upon us?
I am not talking about the faith healers, charlatans, false prophets of today. They have their name on everything they do not the name of God, not the name of Christ.
We have Christ, the bible, and the apostles. We have the prophets. Yet we have not faith.
That is the answer. Faith the grain of a mustard seed.
Our God is able.
Do we believe?
Do we not have the faith to go in the name of God?
Do we have the faith to believe He is able?
More than just in our words, but show our faith in our deeds?
Romans 10:17KJV
17So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God
There it is. Faith is the key.
But not just faith, hearing the Word of God.
We must put aside the world, the ways of the world, our ties to this world. God first, all else is of no moment.
The only true way to acces this power is to be of the same heart and mind as God.
The way we do this is to study and pray. Seek His face. Seek His Will.
Perhaps we shall never truly see that kind of dedication and spirit again. Where someone is so in tune with God that you see Him through them, where you just know God speaks when you hear them.
Perhaps we will never see our portion because we have put God into a box. We have seen the end of the book and now we just wait for it to happen.
Perhaps we are too jaded and too far removed from God that we have settled for less than His best.
Perhaps we have become numb and just don't expect great things because we are so embroiled in this world's system and limitations.
