A true prophet today? What would we do?

If a true prophet of God, a bona fide messenger of the most Holy, showed up how would we know? How would we react?
If John the Baptist the wildman showed up?
Amos, the herdsman?
Hosea the man who married a hooker?

These men didn't attend seminary, they weren't well dressed, well to do, wellspoken men.
They were men who knew God, feared God, warned the people of God. They heard His true voice, and spoke what He said regardless of the consequences.
Amos had a nail drove into his temple by a priest for what he said. Isaiah was drawn and quartered. They paid dearly for their message.

How would we know a true prophet such as these today?
Would we also disregard them? Would we look on them as the outcast, would we also say "God called you? We have much better men here who know God and can speak better, look better, are
more educated than you".
Would we even give their claim any validity? Or just flat out deny them?

I posited a question in the title, But there is a bigger question.
Who will listen if one such as these arises to confront the sin and decadence?
Who would heed the call to repent and renew their nation to a God who waits for us?
Luke 16:27-29 KJV
Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: 28For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
