I go at those from a simple viewpoint: sin is wrong, people sin and ,as we know, there are no good people. Therefore we are all bad (sinners)and fall short of God.
Those of us who know Christ are sinners saved by His Grace and through no merit of our own.
Romans 3:10KJV
10As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Now the thought that struck me today is this: are we not, as christians, whose eyes are wide open to sin and yet we sin, are we not far more guilty than those who are ignorant?
In the United States ignorance of the law is no excuse. At the judgement seat of Christ there will be no excuse.
There are 2 judgements coming, the first for the sinner, and they will be held accountable for their rejection of Christ.
The second is for those that know Him, where we will give account for our actions or lack of actions. We will stand before God Almighty and know we disappointed Him. The very one who lived sinlessly and shed His blood for us.
Which is worse - not knowing punishment is coming or facing the very person whom you disappointed?
It can all get abstract when we talk about what's coming for us in the end, sometimes it's difficult for us as humans to fully comprehend and understand future things. We are not given to long term thinking in spiritual matters.
So back to the original question - which is worse doing wrong ignorantly or doing wrong in the full light of knowledge?
James 4:17KJV
17Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
I will suggest that those of us who know Christ are infinitely more accountable for our actions.
That we grieve the Spirit and hamper the Ministry.
We shall give greater account and stand dejected and alone before our God.
Our Father.
Our creator.
Our Savior.
