I am the manager of a convenience store. It's a very very busy store, we do a lot of business with lots of foot traffic.
Today an incident happened that made me pause.
A man came in walked to the cashier station, waited in line about 30 seconds then passed out right on the spot.
Several people rushed to him, i called 911 and as he had hit his head when he fell we made him as comfortable as we could within the circumstances while not letting him move.
Within 30 seconds everyone who rushed to his aid was gone with one or two stopping to tell me that he smelled strongly of alcohol. Whether he was or wasn't was immaterial and i really don't know more than what he told the medics it was his blood pressure.
One of my associates sat with him while I talked to the authorities both within the company and those in public service.
I took note of all those coming in to do business who glanced and saw a fallen man then turned went up another aisle bought their stuff and went on their merry way.
While the stretcher was being brought in from the ambulance people were in and out, one door of the double doors open for the stretcher and they were using the second door entering buying and leaving and nary a one gave a concern or question about the individual.
Luke 10:25-28King James Version (KJV)
25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
Have we lost our love and concern for our fellow man? Have we grown so callous and self centered that we can see a man fallen and step over them to get what we need/ want?
Or should i say we have lost instead of have we? We are a perverse nation. We have gotten away from our compassion for our fellow man not just spiritually but also physically.
I started thinking we could die on the spot but as long as people weren't inconvenienced they would not even stop to inquire let alone get involved.
I was shocked, sincerely flabbergasted, that people would just ignore the person to get to their own wants, their own comfort.
People WAKE UP. We have lost this nation because no one cares. No one goes out of their way. No one will put themselves out anymore. If we do not stand to benefit, we can't be bothered. We have no love, no respect for anyone.
We are doomed as a nation, we can not stand together because we cannot stand to be together.
If we have no common concerns we have no common cause. With no common cause we are all individuals working towards different ends. Working towards different ends means we can never achieve unity. With no unity there is only divisiveness. Hence we have lost.
Satan has divided us and a house divided can not stand.
Mark 3:27King James Version (KJV)
27 No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.
The church, this nation, this people are now falling to satan because we do not stand together.
We must love our neighbors, we must care about all, not just those close to us. Not just those we can benefit from.
We must have a revival in our hearts and in our very souls.
