We have sinned. We have failed to face our sin, and call it what it is. We have failed to preach against it, speak out against it. We have failed to educate our children and instruct them in the Fear of a Holy and Rigtheous God.
We "the God fearing people" no longer fear, we no longer respect, we no longer dread the chastisement of our Father. We have treated Him as a metaphor, a figment of our imagination. We have treated Him as if He is not there, and watching.
We have sinned!
We have taken a name, the Name of Christ and made it to be nothing. We have taken our blessings, our gifts from God and buried them in the ground. We have taken our inheritance from our forefathers and made it null and void!
Their blood, sweat and tears are now come to naught because we have made it so. It is our fault and no one else's.
We have coddled and placated our sin and made it acceptable.
We have baby sat our sin and our own pet vices and we have sinned in doing so.
The worst part of all this is that we have, in our complacency and laziness and comfort, let our children do the same but they have taken our example and have broadened it. We allowed drinking, smoking and divorce to be harbors even accepted as normal.
I know there are times when divorce is unavoidable but we have made it acceptable for any reason at any time.
Now they have taken our example and our excuses and applied them to far more dangerous and insidious things. They have taken our perversions and have made them more!
We have sinned!
stop the excuses, the hand wringing and look squarely in the mirror. We have sinned against God and God only.
Stop the babysitting and start parenting. Stop the waffling and take a stand!
We have sinned!
I have sinned by my complacency, my pet sins, my lack of service, my acceptance of things that God is against.
We have sinned against God. It is time to tell it like it is. Time to understand we serve a Holy and a Righteous God. A father who is getting out His belt to chastise His children.
We have lost our fear of reprisal, our fear of chastisement, our fear of letting Him down.
God is not imaginary. He is long suffering, merciful, gracious, and kind. Yet He is also a Holy and Just God who will not turn a blind eye from our sins. Who can not look upon our sins, who has judged the Jews, and the world for their sins.
We are facing Judgement and chastisement from our Father.
We are responsible for bringing that upon ourselves.
We have sinned. We must repent. A whole hearted, heart felt and sincere repentance for our sins, the sins of our children that we are responsible for. We must do it now.
