So many times I have heard "That there are a finite number of people who can be saved". That God has determined who will/can be saved and that is that.
I take issue with this thinking. In John 3:16 Christ said:
John 3:16 King James Version (KJV)
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
My bible says whosoever! At what point does that exclude anyone?
Whosoever = all = any.
Whosoever = all = any.
There is a cult who take the number 144,000, also known as the remnant, and have perverted the meaning of it in the Word of God. That number is from the Book of Revelation, talking of the Jews after the rapture during the Tribulation.
Others take yet another piece of scripture and have twisted it.
Romans 8:29-31
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
Right there Paul is telling us God called people to His Service. God knows/knew who was going to serve, who was going to sit. This does not mean that only those people God fore-ordained are going to be saved.
We have free choice, we have free will. At no time will God turn a deaf ear to any who call on His Name. God knows who will be saved, He does not limit at any time the choice to be saved. He wants ALL to come to repentance.
If at any time God limited his offer of salvation to just a few, then He would be a liar. He would not be Holy and pure, but only another fallible being.
We know God is pure and holy. He can not lie, He is God.
So when He says "all" He means "all".
There is no other way to say it. No other viewpoint can have any merit. God has said "whosoever will" there is no defining that any other way.
