We the believers have allowed sin to creep in. We have allowed the sinners in our midst to go unchallenged. We the Church have allowed God's Bride to corrupt herself, we have lost our purity before the wedding.
We have allowed such as is not common to go unchecked. We have Defiled the temple of The Lord God Almighty with our vain babblings, lasciviousness, and our lack of vigilance.
The Apostle Paul also had this happen in his day and he was quite firm on the wrongness of allowing this person to poison the church by their actions.
1 Corinthians 5 KJV
5 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.
2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,
4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,
5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:
10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.
11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?
13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
Whatever happened to a church taking a stand against sin in it's midst? The apostle Paul, The apostle to the gentiles, was all about taking a stand.
A fornicator was in their midst. Openly in sin. Paul is not happy that the church has allowed this man to remain a working part of the church.
The apostle Paul was all about removing this person from their midst, risking their personal well-being for the safety of the church's Spiritual well-being. The sanctity of the church, the House of God, was his first and foremost thought.
We in today's church have gotten it backwards. We look at the person and say "it's ok as long as they are in church God can change them". This is wrong. As long as they are in church and perverting the church ways, setting an awful example for the young and inexperienced. They have far greater opportunity to cause others to go astray by staying in the church as if the church is condoning their actions. There needs to be censure, there needs to be action taken to have the sinner repent.
We look at the world around us and judge ourselves by their standards. We have failed to judge ourselves by the standard of God. He who is Holy and Pure is not happy with the state of most of the churches today. We have watered down, diluted and profaned the Word of God by allowing so many worldly ways to creep into our pews.
We are not to judge the world but to try and influence it through example and witness. We are not of them nor are they of us. We do not let their ways come into our doors, we are to be different set apart to a greater Glory. Let God judge the sinners, but the church should judge the members who do not uphold the Law of God given to us in His Word.
We have no church discipline, we refuse to take a stand for fear that they will leave the church (and take their money with them). We worry that we will be cast as a bigot, or a hatemonger. If they do not have the best interests of the church at heart let them go!
The church is not a social club, nor is it a feel good everyone goes to heaven club. The church is the place we go to renew our spirit and our purpose with like-minded folks. If you have one who is poisoning the brethren remove them from your midst and save the purity of your church and your church's fellowship with God.
We need to stop worrying about the opinion of the public at large, stop worrying about member rolls, tax-exempt status, and political correctness. If we do not maintain the sacredness of the church and the Purity of the Word of God, we are in danger of losing the collective souls of our nation. The only way to fight that is to bring back church discipline, and get our folks in order. This does not mean the pastor is a dictator. This means the pastor with the deacons talk with the person, if they refuse to change or repent then we must get the cancer out.
We need to stop the slide of the church into ungodliness, we need to stem the tide of the world's agenda at out front door before it gets into our pews and not allow them to dictate to us what is right. God's Word has already done that. The world is trying to usurp God's authority. don't let it happen. Take back our role in the nation.
