Perhaps the biggest problem with church and "religion" and people today is they all want a God of love peace and harmony. To them Jesus is a hippie from the 1960's in a cross legged yoga position blessing those who speak to Him. These same people have relegated satan and Hell to a non-existent status. They want you to believe God won't condemn you, that all will make it to heaven, or the catholics who want you to believe in a purgatory and that you can pray or baptize someone else to heaven. These are all lies straight from the pit of Hell spread by the Father of Lies satan himself.
Christ has said except you believe in Him you will not make the kingdom of God. That makes salvation a personal choice, a personal experience. Not of works by you or someone else but a decision by you for you.
Satan has been actively working to undermine and water down the Word of God since the Garden of Eden. He has lied and influenced "learned" men and women, he has perverted men's mind, caused us to soften the lines of sin to the point where they are not even visible.
It started with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
It continued in the book of Job.
5 And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.
6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them. 7 And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
Peter was influenced by the devil to rebuke Christ when Christ spoke of going to the cross. Peter learned his lesson and tried to caution us, in the first book of Peter we are told:
1 Peter 5:8-10
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. 10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. 11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Satan has lied and deceived and perverted the people of this world. He has blinded their eyes to their sins, himself, and to the true nature of God. We know that satan knows the true nature of God because he puffed himself up to takeover God's spot and God threw him out of heaven and created Hell for him and his followers. Trust me Satan has lots of followers from heaven, Fully 1/3 of the "innumerable host of angels" rebelled against God with satan.
Satan has been at odds with God since His failed bid to take over. He tried to tempt Christ when Christ was weakened by a 40 day fast in the wilderness. He tried to subvert Christ through Peter's admonition. He used Judas to try and keep Christ from His path to the cross.
Make no mistake about it. Satan is real. Satan is steadfastly working against the Christians in this world. He is trying still to subvert the will of God. He is true Evil personified. He will do all he can to make sure you are stymied, frustrated, and completely confused. He is the Father of Lies, The great confuser and the great dragon.
Satan is the impetus for today's low morality. He has convinced man that there is no God, no great day of Judgement, and no higher authority than man himself. This is why the perversions, the slow decay of society is happening. Satan has done a lot of small things to weaken God here on earth and in those small details are the greater battle won.
Satan took over the universities who translated and watered down the word of God.
Satan and his minions are constantly trying to weaken the testimony of the church, slander the brethren, accuse the faithful, and attack the family.
8 and prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
Satan does not want to be alone in the pit of Hell for all eternity. He will take all that he can with him. He is at work now to subvert, and cajole, and cause more people to turn from God. In the end we know what happens. the great serpent loses and is thrown into the fiery pit.
God is well aware of Satan. God has placed His people here and has given them His word to work against the Devil. The devil is a serpent, an angel of light, a roaring lion,
and a liar. He has power over the earth and dominion of all that subsides therein. However, God does not allow him to do a thing without permission. Our God is greater than the devil. But man is prideful, and satan works on that pride to make sure man stays right where satan wants him: on the road to hell.
Today we have more "cases" of possession than before. We have more ways to stay away from God than ever before. We have a world that prefers to keep God out of all facets of life, the question is why. Why is simple. Satan is still working to undermine any and all things of God. Satan is still subverting the people, the church, the government, the family, and anything else he can.
It is the job of the Christian to be vigilant.
Satan knows the scriptures. He quoted them to Christ in the desert during the temptations. However, as most know satan just used half the scriptures. If satan or his minions, or even a person you are talking to starts quoting scripture get a bible and ensure they know and you know they are correct. Do not let them confuse you that is satan's most powerful weapon. Once he has you confused you are then frustrated and irrational. God's Word is your greatest weapon.
However one word of caution: Satan is more powerful than you or I. The archangel Michael needed help in the fight against Satan. We can do nothing against satan personally. we can only in the name and power of Christ achieve the victory. Do not go to war with satan in your own power. We can only rebuke him with the name of Christ. Not holy water, not a symbol, not a talk, there is nothing we have to defeat satan without God.. Only through the Word of God and His power can we hope to overcome.
