Christ was walking through out the land and performing mighty works. however in those days they didn't have iphones twitter and video cameras. The late news was really really late. So they had to rely on eyewitness accounts and word of mouth, therefore whenever He performed a miracle only the ones immediately present were able to attest to what happened.
John 9
4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
19 And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see?
41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
In Verse 3 the disciples asked who sinned and Christ responded no one but this man was born to glorify God the Father. We are all born to glorify God but this man was born for this specific reason to bear witness.
Once again Christ flew in the face of tradition and healed a man on the Sabbath, and once again the Pharisees were there to stop it. They were so in love with their power and control they forgot the spirit behind the law. And Christ once again had to listen to the nonsense of the letter of the law when it was the spirit of the law He cared about. So this man who was healed was then questioned. None of the Pharisees believed Christ had healed the blind man so they called the parents. The parents knew their son but knew not the one who had healed him. Thus they could not speak as to how he was healed but they could say he was their son.
They, afraid of the ruling class and not being aware of Christ as the healer, had no answers and so they had to let their son speak for himself. Their son did himself and them proud. He answered the Pharisee's questions straight and true and bewildered these "religious" Pharisee's with scripture. Then when they could not answer him they told him he was a sinner and cast him out of the temple. imagine that bluster and name calling when they failed to understand and see the truth.
This man stood straight and true for he knew he had been healed. That he had been delivered from a life of darkness.
Then when Christ heard he had been cast out He found him and showed him who was the One to whom he owed everything. Christ then tells him in a nutshell why He is here. He was here to judge.
Christ didn't come for those who are happy in their sins reprobate or the religious class who held to their own self-righteousness. these two groups were blinded by their own abilities and worth.
The ONLY true way is Christ. Not the traditions and customs, which do have their place as long as they are not the focus. All we do should be to Glorify God. Christ in this passage shows us literally and symbolically that those who have all the answers are not aware that they don't have all the answers.
Those who know they need help are the reason He came.
Follow Christ.
Find those blind and living in a darkened world.
Love the sinner, HATE the sin.
We are to be the light of the world. We are to point the way to our God and savior. The only way to heaven is Christ. The only way to peace is through Christ. We need to stand and be a witness to Christ and the cross for without the shedding of His blood there is no remission of sin. Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Even as the blind man who was healed, stand up to the wisdom of this world and tell them of Christ who loved them enough to die for them when they didn't/don't know who He is.
