Just the facts

Remember dragnet the TV show where Joe Friday always says when interviewing a suspect "just the facts, ma'am."

He wasn't interested in opinion or supposition.. He just wanted to know what was said/or done. O that we all would have this attitude towards the Bible and the people we interact with.
John 8:1-11KJV

Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
Christ was In the Temple teaching and the pharisees tried to trick Him. He just went with the facts.  The pharisees did not bring the man the woman was caught in adultery with. They didn't give Him the whole story BUT He knew the true details. His response wasn't to judge but to forgive her and admonish her to sin no more.

We are not to judge tis true. We are not to Condone the wrongful actions either.
This is where we have gone wrong. Too often we say it doesn't affect me. But it does. They took bibles out of school and  it affected future generations, prayer in the school, and allowed evolution to get in. Anytime we give the devil a toe hold he will take over incrementally. The slightest of actions, relaxed guard, or a blind eye can send us down a slippery slope. We must work so hard to stay on a Godly course but the slope of sin is swift and generally far easier.

So thus it behooves us to stay on track with just the facts. God will not lead us astray. There is no turning or deviation in Him. He is holy pure and right.  This is our "just the facts".

We need to remember that as Christ is the judge He and He alone knew all the facts of this situation. We are woefully uninformed. Even when we are "given" the full facts we must remember what we are hearing is generally the speakers version of events.

However, there is a thin line between not judging and condoning. We must be certain that we are in line with God's WORD. He is the final authority on all positions we must maintain that we are in His View of what is sin.

When in doubt hate the sin love the sinner. We should endeavor to lead by example. Pray for the one gone astray and seize the opportunities to bring them back to the fold. As Christ said so shall it be.  Go thy way and sin no more.

We can't forgive sin. We can't tell the heart of our fellow man. We can however encourage the joyous reunion of that one.....
