My father's yard

 Early this spring I went to my dad's home, he is getting up there in years and can not do what he used to and I said "Dad your grass is long, do you need me to come and mow it?" Now if you know my dad he will never, ever admit he needs anyone for anything, it is what endears us all to him.

Anyway, he says "no I can do it, I said no I can do it and I will be here (whatever day I said I would be there.), You are my Father and this is your house and I want you to have a nice yard."

So this morning in mid August after 4 months of mowing every week, I got out of my truck and started mowing, and it hit me this is my Father's House, I want Him to have a nice yard, a clean house and a good reputation. I go to his house just about once a week because I am worried about His reputation, His appearance to the neighbors etc.

If they never see me there, how do they know I am His? If I allow His yard to overgrow then how do people know He has children that care and want to see Him?

Yes I have stopped talking about my dad in the second paragraph and have moved on to the Heavenly Father, for He is worthy of my time, His House is important to me. His reputation is important to me.

2Sa 7:1  And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and the LORD had given him rest round about from all his enemies;

2Sa 7:2  That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.

David sitting in his house, worries about God, the God of Israel in a tent, the Creator of the Universe dwelling withing curtains. David is worried about God, yes God can take care of Himself yes God can make a home, but David worried about God being below him, when God should be lifted above All.

David is the man after God's own heart and Why? Because he cared about what God cared about. He cared for God's reputation (most of the time), he cared that God lived in a tent while he is in a cedar house.

God is my God, Jesus is my Savior, Master and Lord, do I care for His House as David?  Do I care for my Heavenly Father's reputation? The empty parking lot the neighbors see at my Father's house because we do not care enough to go? The yard overgrown, the children visiting for they Love Him and want to spend time with Him?

Yes God can do it all, Jesus Himself tells us God can raise up children out of stones.

Mat_3:9  And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

God can do it all, He can make servants and robots, yet He chose to make us, give us free Will. What are you doing with your free will for your Father?

Freely given does not just apply to tithe, it means talent, and time, too.

Is your Father's yard being taken care of? Do the neighbors see you giving to your Father the time and attention He so desperately wants from you?

He will never coerce, He wants it out of love. He loves you.
