Ecclesiastes

Have you ever read Ecclesiastes and remembered that the man that wrote that deep, depressing book also wrote Proverbs? The man that wrote Ecclesiastes was one of the wisest in recorded history. He was also one of the richest.

He built God's House, to this day we call it Solomon's Temple.

Yet, in Ecclesiastes he is not the same man as he was in his youth.

Ecc 1:10  Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.

toward the end of his days, he tells everyone all I have done, seen and lived is a waste.

There is no new thing, I did what they did, no worse or better than they yet they shall not be remembered evermore.

Ecc 1:3  What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun?

A bleak and dark musing.

Yet Solomon in all his thinking, and studying, while writing out these thoughts comes to this one inescapable thought.

Ecc 12:13  Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Ecc 12:14  For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

Solomon after skirt chasing, drinking, carousing, after all that he found that fearing God and keeping His commandments is the best way to be.

He is the wisest man to ever live for a reason.
