Mat 11:2 Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,
Mat 11:3 And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?
How many times do we ourselves ask this very same question?
After all, How can God never sleep, always care about what I am thinking or saying or doing, while 12 hrs earlier when the other half of the world was awake He cared about them too, 8 billion people and He hears little old me? How can He do it with no vacation or even a staycation?
If He is Truly God can He do what needs to be done and why doesn't He? Is He real or just a figment? After all what proof do we have that He lives?
My personal favorite, How can He care so much for His World as the Bible states yet care so little for the baby dying of starvation or the child abuser that goes free?
If ever you say "I have never doubted", I have always had faith.
Good for you, then you are better than I. I am plagued with the same doubts and fears, questions, as the average Christian in this world has.
So how do I get rid of the doubts? How do I answer the questions? How do I cope with the overwhelming doubt sometimes? (which by the way seems to come the most in the times that I am nearest to being so very tired I can not hold my eyes open, my moments when I am most vulnerable).
When I start getting the doubts and fears, the darts thrown at me, the attack of satan and his minions trying to convince I can not make a difference, the fear that all I have done is useless, the sheer futility of all that I try to do in today's world with an ungrateful people, a disinterested people, I turn on my southern Gospel.
You can not be fearful or doubtful, down and depressed, when you are singing of the God we serve.
If you start singing and praising, counting your blessings, listening to other folks singing and praising. you can not be angry (well you can but you will have to make an effort to stay mad, at least I do).
Let me tell you something, if John the Baptist got down and depressed, doubted, or lost sight for a moment, of God, then you and I will too.
Period.
If anyone ever tells you that having a doubt means you are not saved, walk away.
Yet, Do not stay in that doubt, get to a radio, or a hymn book, or a fellow christian to pray and fellowship. Get to a church and get some good old fashioned worship going. I know you may not believe this but you can, you really can go to church more than just Sunday Morning.
Doubts will come, What are you doing to defend yourself from them? Are you praying, singing? Do you have a support network in place?
Get ahead of the game, plan and prepare so when doubts and fears come you can execute that plan, staving off the attacks of the enemy.
