The other day I said something in Sunday School that got me thinking. I often ask why churches are dead, why the David Krank, Joel Osteen, and Joyce Meyer, feel good no susbstance, churches can have full parking lots yet the church, the one that preaches the Gospel, is dying.
We are now 3 generations (at least) deep in the TV/Entertainment age. Where computers are always on in front of our eyes, the meme and advertisement of 30 seconds is the way of communicating.
The problem is not the church, the problem is the church goer.
The average church goer walks in says hi, gets their seat, pays their money, watches the service and goes home. That is it and generally only once a week, for an hour.
There is no longer a relationship. No longer a personal investment. We expect no return on the time or money spent, we have been conditioned to fork it over, watch, and go home. (the movie theater, the local playhouse etc).
The church by and large stopped teaching a personal God, a personal relationship with Jesus, and we have streamlined the process from 6 - 7 hours on a Sunday to 1 hour on Sunday playing right into the enemies hands.
We no longer teach Jesus, the Son of God, who walked this earth, who died, was buried, and Resurrected on the third day. This Same Jesus that was here, shall be here again. We no longer disciple because we are too busy doing nothing.
We no longer teach sensitivity to the Spirit, we no longer emphasize a Omnipresent God who watches all and knows what you are doing at all times.
There is Love, there is Judgment, there is Concern, there is wrath, and there is accountability.
The church goer is no longer fascinated, in awe of God and His Love, His Majesty, His Sacrifice. He is now just "the Big Guy" in the sky, the man upstairs, what have you.
Mar 6:4 But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.
Mar 6:5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
Mar 6:6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching. .
The church, the very house of God, has lost their respect for God. They have lost their reverence for the Almighty Father..
The Home is no longer laying the foundation for the Church to build on. The Home is lost, we are on our devices always yet we are doing nothing on those devices.
Just as guns do not kill people, Computers do not go to useless or sinful webpages on their own.
We have all the information in the world at our fingertips yet porn is the most searched and watched event all day every day.
Gal 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
Gal 4:5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
Gal 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
Gal 4:7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
Gal 4:8 Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.
Gal 4:9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?
We have placed ourselves right back in bondage, whether to the device, the need for mindless entertaiment, the lack of interest in the world. We have allowed our convenience, and our technology to bind us to the World.
Yet if we are of God we ought not to be of this World. Have you put yourself back in bondage?
Watch your time spent, see how much you give God and how much you give your devices, your games, your entertainment.
It might just shock you.
