Seasonal reasoning

I was contemplating the Days of Christmas, the month long festivity and anticipation of the Holiday. As I do, I thought to myself, why is Christmas a full month but Easter, for most folks, is a half day. Why do we spend so much on the birth and so little on the death of Christ.

The birth is so very important, but the death, without the death of Christ we would not have life. The Death, burial and resurrection is the whole reason He came.

I am not trying to take away from the Christmas season, it's a great time of year, but I believe we need to be as equally celebratory of our victory over death and the grave. (just as people take credit for the favorite sports team win, so too am I taking credit for my Family defeated death and the grave, For I am a child of God and that makes me Family).

Mat 1:21  And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Before Jesus is Born it is proclaimed that He is going to save His people (all of creation is His people) from their sins. That is an important thing right there. For at the time Joseph is told of God's child being born through his betrothed, He is told that Jesus wil take away the sins of the people.

Not remove the people from Roman rule, not free them from poverty, but to die and take away their sins.

John the Baptist recognized Christ in the womb, then at the baptism of Jesus He recognized Him yet again. John recognized Him as the Lamb of God.

Joh 1:29  The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

Jesus came to this earth to die, from the very beginning of time that was the purpose.

Celebrate Christmas and the Gift that God gave to all mankind, His birth on this earth.

Yet remember the greatest gift of all, made possible by that birth, Salvation, was the true purpose and meaning of the whole process.
