God or mammon

I am about to ask yet another question, and this one I am giving my opinion as an opinion not the answer.

I have talked of people who found Christ in oppressive countries, for when they called out to Him He made Himself known. We have read and discussed miraculous answers to prayer in days gone by as well.

Why do most of us not see God work as we hear He did with Jack Hyles, Curtis Hutson, D.L. Moody, Jerry Falwell, Billy Sunday, George Mueller and even Billy Graham?

Rom_10:13  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Does this verse not apply to all?

Jer 33:3  Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

What about this verse? Does it not apply?

Or perhaps we in the modern world, with technology, medicine, doctors. lawyers, tv and CGI movie effects just don't believe anymore? Perhaps we are too "educated" and too "grounded". Perhaps, just perhaps we are not solely dedicated to Him like they were?

Jas 1:5  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Jas 1:6  But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

Jas 1:7  For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

Jas 1:8  A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Perhaps, I do not know just speculating, perhaps we are too worried about our life as we view life? The house, the family, the vacation, the next meal, the next day off, the next paycheck?

Some are valid, yet does Christ not say that God will provide our needs and Christ is God, right?

You can not worry about the things of God and the things of earth at the same time. One or the other. What's the old adage about multi-tasking? If you are doing multiple things at once you are doing nothing well.

Even Christ said the same thing.

Mat_6:24  No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

I think, my opinion, that we have too many serving mammon first and giving God the leftovers. We are called to do the exact opposite, aren't we? To devote ourselves to God at work, at home, at play? Yet we bring the world to work, to play and at home, and even to the church.

I am starting to think that we are not serving God and mammon, I am thinking that maybe most of us are just serving mammon.

I do not know the exact answer why we, by and large, do not see the same results they used to, but I am of an opinion. My opinion may not be correct, but I believe I am on the right track.

Christ came to this earth lived, died and rose again for us. We can not go to church twice a week even for Him.
