Faith - ish

Mar 6:5  And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.

Mar 6:6  And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.

God walked the face of this earth, for 33 years as a human, He walked this earth. It is amazing how often He found little to no faith. It is amazing how many had no heart knowledge of Him, but led the people. His people. They were being led by pharisees and sadducees and they had no idea the very One they said they served was among them.

In His hometown where He grew up, they knew Him, but they had no idea who He was.

He (God) could do no mighty work in Nazareth because of their unbelief. He could not work because of their unbelief.

Nazareth was so caught up in who He was, as they knew Him, they never figured out that He was the Great I AM.

The pharisees and sadducees were so caught up in their power, their word being the final authority that they missed Him when He came, even though the scriptures told them where, when and how. We know the Scriptures say so because the wisemen from the East found Him, the King of the Jews, using those same Scriptures.

Do we have this same problem today?

We say God can no longer do awakenings like in years past because of technology, but He can. His power has not diminished, our faith has.

In fact it should be easier to do the "great awakenings" now rather than in previous years. We can reach so many more at one time through radio, internet, tv etc.

Could it be our faith lacking? Could it be our lack of fervency or urgency? Could it be we are too comfortable? There are awakenings in Iran, Iraq, China and India right now but America? No, no wholesale awakenings.

Luk 10:13  Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

Christ called people out for their lack of faith, He pronounced woes to the cities that did not heed Him. He routinely spoke out against the religious leaders who no longer worked for God.

The fact that He spoke so often about a lack of faith leads me to believe it is important to Him. If it is that important to God how much more important should it be to us?

I am going to leave this with another verse from Christ Himself talking about another city that would rise up in judgment over the nation of Israel at Christ's time for not seeing the Truth.

Mat 12:41  The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.
