They made God's people to transgress

 1Sa 2:12  Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the LORD

1Sa 2:22  Now Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons did unto all Israel; and how they lay with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. 

1Sa 2:23  And he said unto them, Why do ye such things? for I hear of your evil dealings by all this people. 

1Sa 2:24  Nay, my sons; for it is no good report that I hear: ye make the LORD'S people to transgress. 

1Sa 2:25  If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man sin against the LORD, who shall intreat for him? Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because the LORD would slay them. 

1Sa 2:34  And this shall be a sign unto thee, that shall come upon thy two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas; in one day they shall die both of them. 

I was thinking of this the other day, I do not know why, yet it has stuck in my mind.

Eli, Phineas and Hophni. What a trio. Eli knew God, he was called a priest of God. Yet his sons were called sons of Belial.

How does one generation have such a great testimony and honor of being called a priest of God and the very next generation that grew up under those same teachings, in the same house, be called sons of Belial?

They were sons of Belial. They were in it solely for themselves and what they could get out of it, and the led the nation astray because the nation did not go to God, all because they did not want to deal with the sons of ELI.

They made the visits to the temple, the sacrifices and the service to God so very onerous to the people and the people were walking away in droves from God because the "priests" were devils, they cared not for the heart and souls of the people just for their own gratification.

They were taking more than their portion from the meat and food tithed to God. they laid with the harlots gathered at the Temple of God. Seriously, they made it legal to lay with the harlots, and they did it at the House of God. They perverted God's House.

We have people in the pulpits today doing the same thing. They are not really interested in God and His service. They are interested in doing what they want, when they want, how they want and it has nothing to do with God.

We have sons and daughters of Belial in the pulpits today and they are insidious, for they are accepted of the people, they have the title man has given, but God Himself can not stand them nor their service.

They preach a semblance of the Gospel yet they have no true knowledge of the Gospel, nor of the Jesus they proclaim to serve and Love. 

This is not something open to interpretation. God has made it clear what His Gospel is, His way of serving, His way of teaching and preaching, yet man has decided that they will not do it God's Way.

Man has decided, once again, that they know better than God. That they are better able to win people with their methods, their time frame, their "gospel" , all while proclaiming they Love God, they serve God and they will die for God. 

They will not live for God how can you believe they would die for Him?

It is bad enough when the people of God will not get out to church to worship and praise, how bad must our nation be when the "priests" of God can not/will not get to church to allow the people to serve?

The "pulpits" of this nation are making the people to transgress. The "priests" are leading the people astray. 

Just as in Judges every man is doing that which is right in their own eyes. 

God must Judge.
