Today

 On the way home from church tonight I was driving and 2 motorcycles pulled out behind me. They were younger drivers, for they blew past me on the left not caring what was coming.

I thought to myself  "they are young they have their whole life ahead of them."

Yet, almost immediately, I realized they have no more life guaranteed to them than I do at 52.

Luk 12:18  And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. 

Luk 12:19  And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. 

Luk 12:20  But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? 

Our days are numbered before the Lord. We have no idea when He will require our souls, when He will call us home.

God is the God of today, yes He is aware of yesterday, and He knows tomorrow, but He wants from you, today, what only you can do for Him.

He doesn't care where you have been, what you have done, only what you can do, what you are going to do. Yesterday's choices and decisions are in the past. Yesterday's trials, failures, sorrows are in the past. Today is the day He is wanting you to be concerned with.

No matter what you have done, no matter how you have lived, today is a new day. A new sun, a new life, a new direction.

You have lived a rough life of drugs, or drinking, or immorality or all 3, He doesn't care. Today is your day. You have wandered from Him, chased the almighty dollar, He doesn't care. He wants you today to turn to Him and make a difference today.

You have gone to church, made it a routine, doing just enough to get by, to make it look like you are "christian", He doesn't care. Turn your heart over to Him today, make it real and search for His Face, His Spirit today and reawaken.

Your church has stagnated oh man of God, you have gotten depressed, down and have accepted it as inevitable. Get on your knees today and seek Him, pray, cry aloud to our God and ask Him to revitalize the Spirit within you. Today.

Today is the day.

You have wondered if God can accept you, you have wondered if He can forgive you. That is not really the question you seek the answer to. The question you want answered is, Can I forgive myself. Can you live with what you have done, in your state of unworthiness, you feel as if God can not use you, you have gone too far, you have sinned way too much. Your conscience is what you must clear. God made His decision about you 2000 years ago on the Old Rugged Cross. He laid down His life for you and me. He has not changed His mind for He is constant.

For God so loved the world, that means each and every soul ever to have existed, to have lived and sinned. To have lived and turned from Him. He suffered and died so that you do not have to.

He does not care what you have done, He cares what you will do. 

To even sweeten the pot, not only will He hear true cries, true repentance, He will give you His Spirit, He will open your eyes to the scriptures that He might talk to you, guide you, show you just how much He loves you.

You say but I have read and don't understand the scriptures, ask Him He will help.

You say but I have done so much wrong, He can and will forgive.

You say but people look to me, they think I am spiritual, I can't go forward and admit I am less than they think. God says there is rejoicing in heaven over the sinner repenting. Where would you rather have your reputation mended among men or among Heaven's throngs? If your church is any kind of God's people they will rejoice with you.

You say I can't go to church I am too terrible a person, God can not love some one like me. Then you are exactly the person God is looking for. You are the One He died for. For you have recognized your need, your inadequacies.

Jesus said:

Luk_5:32  I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

He didn't come to call the righteous. He came to call the sinners, the ones who know, KNOW they have a need.

Your whole life starts today, only that which you do for Him will last. Only what you do for Him will matter in eternity.

Oh christian today is the day to stop the lip service and start the heart service, to turn from the way of world and onto the way of the cross, for the way of the cross leads home.

What's stopping you from turning to Him?

What's stopping you from surrendering to Him?

What's stopping you from whole hearted service to Him?

Is it something you did yesterday? Is it your own fear and unworthiness?

Today is the day of repentance.

Today is the day of Salvation.

Today is your day, do not waste it, do not let it go by in fear or complacency, return to Him today. There is no day like today ever again.

Today, it is all we have, make the most of it for all eternity.

Psa 118:24  This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. 

Live for Him today, turn your heart and life over to Him today. Make today the day of rejoicing for a New Spirit, A new life has begun.

Today, repent, revive, rejoice.
