The greatest choice

I did a post once called " choice: the crux of the matter".

noun, plural crux·es, cru·ces [kroo-seez]. a vital, basic, decisive, or pivotal point: The crux of the trial was his whereabouts at the time of the murder. a cross. something that torments by its puzzling nature; a perplexing difficulty.

what Christianity truly boils down to is a choice, your choice to give your heart and life wholly and completely to God, trusting in the shed blood of Christ for your salvation, for there is no other way to Heaven.

However, the greatest choice ever made is what we will be exploring here.

1. God chose to come to this earth and to provide to mankind the salvation that man could not of their own doing provide, eternal life and communion with Him.

Luk 1:35  And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

But in my opinion not the greatest choice of all.

2. Joseph was given a choice of putting away Mary who was pregnant even though he had never "known" her. The angel of the Lord appeared and told him not to, but Joseph still had to choose to believe and do.

Mat 1:24  Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:

Mat 1:25  And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

Joseph chose his betrothed and the scandal that would come, over his own pride, his own standing, but that was not the greatest choice of all in my opinion.

3.Jesus was fasting in the desert for 40 days hungry, weakened, He was tempted of the devil. He chose to subject Himself to these temptations weak in the flesh, to truly be tested as we are.

Mat 4:2  And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

Mat 4:3  And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

The temptation of Christ, He had to face off with the devil on the devil's own turf. He chose to follow God's plan even in His weakened state.

Still not the greatest choice in my opinion.

4.Christ knew He was going to die, how He was going to die, In the garden He prayed:

Mat 26:42  He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

He had a choice to make, to die as the Father had laid out, to subject Himself freely of His own human Will, to the Cross.

This was very close to the greatest choice ever made.

You ask "how can I not call this the greatest choice of all"?

A very fine distinction here  Jesus is God, therefore His choice was just a tad easier than the greatest choice of all. Now remember, I was not there and neither were you, so I can objectively say, in my opinion, what I think is the greatest choice of all.

The choice to go to the cross, and do not think for a second it wasn't a choice and a very hard one, was a very difficult one that God and Christ came to and then followed through on. For it to be The Pure and final sacrifice it had to be a choice for Christ to lay down His life.

5.The greatest choice of all, in my opinion, is a choice that all 3 aspects of God's being consult on, work towards to achieve. Think about that, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are all together in the hardest, greatest choice of all.

There is more involved yet in the greatest choice of all, the very devil, satan, himself fights against the greatest choice of all, he is there and oh so against this choice.

If that isn't enough in the greatest choice ever, there is yet another party involved. Me.

The greatest choice ever made was when I accepted Christ. The greatest choice ever made was when you accepted Christ.

We, against our own flesh, against the very devil, with all three aspects of God calling us, made the greatest choice ever. We called on the name of Christ to be saved.

The greatest forces in all the world were involved in this decision, and I, you were also involved.

And the angels rejoiced , all of heaven rejoiced when that choice was made.

Luk_15:10  Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

These are the words of Christ, He would know of the joy in heaven. He tells us there is joy over one sinner that repenteth. I was that sinner they rejoiced over. You were that sinner they rejoiced over.

The day you accepted Christ, all of heaven came to a standstill to rejoice solely for you.

That is the greatest choice of all.

If you have never received Christ, if you have never made that choice, today is the day. Today is the day of salvation for you, that is the prayer of all Christians. All of Heaven is waiting for the moment they can rejoice for you chose Christ.

Jesus is the Way the Truth and the Life,. If you have never called upon Him, please do so now. For there is a sin unto death, and that is the rejection of Christ, the Son of God, and His sacrifice on the cross.

He died for me, He died specifically for you that you might have everlasting life with Him.

This is the greatest choice of all.
