I don't want to

Jon 4:1  But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry.
Jon 4:2  And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil.

On my way into work the other day I was listening to 97.7 out of Lebanon, The person speaking was going through the book of Jonah.
Now many of us are familiar with the book of Jonah, the great fish, the rebellion of Jonah.

When I think of the people in the Bible many times I try to put their actions into my thinking and try to discern why they did what they did.
Not one of the people in the Bible was any different than you or me. They all ate, bathed, slept, just like you and me.
They were not wooden people, robots going along all bright and shiny.

So as I was thinking about this on the drive in to work, it occurs to me .

Jonah didnt want converts because if there were converts things would change. He would have to change his way, his heart, his thinking.
Jonah was happy that the city of Nineveh was going to get what it deserved, That God was going to judge those wicked people, and Jonah was happy at that prospect.

Then of course the correlation for today.
How many of us don't witness or testify because if we do and then we have converts, we must then change our ways?
How many do not testify or witness because then we would actually have to walk what we talked?
How many of us are willing that none should perish but not willing to change for them?

How many of us are Jonah? we think of Jonah as the one called to be preacher or evangelist that runs from the call.
Yet the everyday christian is called of God to witness.
The everyday christian is to be a walking testimony.

How many of us everyday christians have that hand of God on us and we refuse to go to our Nineveh because there is a wicked people there that are going to get what they deserve?
How many of us do not open our mouths because our words will contradict our very lifestyle?
How many of us run from God in our hearts and fail to do that which He has called us to?

To be a witness. To be a walking talking testimony.
We apply this as we do most things in the Bible to other people. We apply this to the big calls of God.

Why do we the everyday christian not apply this to us ourselves?
We do not have revival in this nation because the heart of the people of God is far from God.
