I have probably said this before but I am going to say it again.
Do you realize how blessed we are today?
Num_24:2 And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.
Jdg_3:10 And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war: and the LORD delivered Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chushanrishathaim.
The Old Testament heroes had to wait for The Spirit to come on them. The ones we venerate and put up there as examples had to WAIT.
Today we have that Spirit in us! Think it through people.
We have constant and total access to the Spirit of God and we are far less Spirit Filled than those who only had momentary instances of the Spirit working in them.
Act 4:8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
Act 4:29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,
Act 4:30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.
Act 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
Did you read that? They prayed for boldness, for the Spirit, to go out and speak.
They were filled with the Spirit and they prayed for boldness and the Place they were at shook!
please note it did not say he, him, her, it said they. That's in the plural. THEY. In the book of Judges, and all the rest of the Old Testament one person had the Spirit of the Lord come upon them.
In the New Testament they had the filling of the Spirit.
They did not pray for influence, money, fame, the house payment, or the new car they wanted they prayed for Boldness in proclaiming the Word of God. They prayed that they would use the Spirit of God that was given to them and they would do so with Boldness.
They prayed for boldness for themselves and for each other.
oh that we might get some of that today, That we might go forth preaching with Boldness the Word of God and the Truth of Christ.
That we might take His Gift the Indwelling of the Holy Spirit and that we might use it in the way intended and that we might speak boldly.
We have untapped resources, untapped power in us and we do not use it.
We have prayers unanswered because we do not use the Spirit of God that was given to us because we do not fully understand the Gift or we do not fully believe that it is ours.
We do not understand that God gave us the Spirit for us to be used of The Spirit. not for us to use the Spirit of God.
We are to be guided by, taught by, and filled with the Spirit of God. We are to be His Instruments.
Not to have that power for our use, but for us to be of a use to Him,
Do you get the distinction?
They did not go out and wait for the Spirit to come upon them, they went out and let the Spirit talk through them,
They were walking and talking of Christ and when the Spirit led they let the Spirit work through them.
They got out of the way and allowed God to work through them.
They didn't wait at home for the power before they went out to witness and testify.
They went out and when the opportunity came they had the Spirit prayed up, paid up and ready to go.
We have the very same Spirit dwelling in us today that Peter had. That John the Revelator had. That D.L. Moody had, that Spurgeon had.
We have that same Spirit, we have that same Word of God, We have that same testimony of Christ and Him crucified.
We have the same authority given to us as the Apostles had.
Why do we not use it as they did?
We go out and hope someone listens, we hope someone brings up the subject. We pray that we might have a chance.
They made their chances and their opportunities and then when that opportunity came, they in the Spirit of God, made the most of it.
They prayed for boldness and the building shook.
They prayed for boldness and then went out and Spoke the Word of God with Boldness.
They are no different than us.
They are no stronger, nor any weaker than us.
Yet they set a world on fire.
We are watching the world burn to the ground.
They preached Truth and repentance, we preach maybe and possibly.
They preached with authority and power, we preach with temerity and hope to not offend.
The same Spirit they had, the same Spirit the Old Testament heroes had, we have.
Now if you can not speak with boldness, if you do not have that gift, then pray for those that can.
Pray for those that do that they may speak with Boldness.
Not everyone has the same gift.
Not everyone has the same make up.
So if you can not, then pray for those who can.
Together the pray - ers, and the speakers can go out with boldness and win this world back with the Spirit of God leading the way.
Let's shake the building, Let's shake the nation, Let's shake this world with the Gospel of Christ and Him Crucified.
That is the Truth,
