the god of this world

2Co_4:4  In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Who is the "god"of this world? that old snake, the serpent the devil.
He has blinded the minds of man and woman and made them as if they were asleep concerning the things of God.
He has blinded their eyes to their very sinfulness, he has caused them to call it disease, foibles, illness.
He has caused people to no longer believe either in him or in the True God Jehovah.
He has deceived the people, even the ones who call themselves the people of God. He has strewn a web of lies and deceit and people have fallen for it.

1Jn_4:3  And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Every spirit that confesseth not Christ. This includes the people of this earth. For God sent His Son to save the world, those that believe not and reject Christ have the spirit of antichrist. The unforgivable sin is the rejection of God's Son and His Sacrifice for the whole world.

Satan is working overtime to be sure that people are blinded to the truth of the Gospel, to the True God, and to the detriment of their eternal souls.
He has convinced people that he doesn't exist, and that there is no God.
Yet we have insurmountable proof from the very Word of God that satan is real and does exist.
From the garden of Eden to the temptation of Christ to the book of Revelation there is ample proof, yet "preachers' and "pastors" fail to believe and warn their people of this very evil persona and have led their people astray as they are led astray.

We have satan in the book of Job walking into the throne room of God and conversing with God. He is talking of the righteousness of Job and the fact that Job only is so pious and his faith so strong because God has blessed him. He is accussing Job before God and telling God that Job must be tested to show his true weakness.
God brings Job's name up but satan ,who can not see the heart and mind, then scoffed and said it was only because of what Job had.
God gave permission for satan to tempt him, to try him, he was given free rein to do what ever he wanted with the exception of taking his life.
He came at Job Through Job's wealth, Job's family, Job's friends, and Job's wife.
In the midst of Job's temptations satan used Job's wife (at least I am assuming that satan influenced her words and her vitriol for no true wife should behave this way) to try and make him sin in his words, he used Job's friends to try and convince Job that he had sinned and caused this all to fall on him because of his own behavior.
Job stood firm, steadfast in his faith and refused to curse God.
He did waiver and have doubts but he never accused God, or sinned in anger towards God.

Satan fought in the book of Daniel to keep the prayers of Daniel from being answered.

Dan 10:12  Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.
Dan 10:13  But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
Dan 10:14  Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days.

Daniel was given an answer to his prayers and his troubles yet satan withstood Gabriel for
days until Michael arrived so Gabriel could bring the message to Daniel.
If satan fought to keep Daniel's answers to prayer from him what makes us think we are any different?

We have incontrovertible truth of satan and his work to stop the Will of God and the Gospel of Christ.

Satan went after Job and Daniel in different ways. So this tells us that satan will come after us in different ways.
He whispered to eve to make her question the Word of God.
He influenced Peter to try and get him to stand in the way of Christ as He was going to the cross.
He affected Job physically, and in his health and finances.
He kept daniel from getting his answered prayers, causing him to be troubled in his spirit.

here are just a few ways that satan can and will come against us.
He will attack your finances to keep you from titihing.
He will attack your marriage.
He will attack your personal faith.
He will do what ever he can to derail your testimony.
He will use friends and family to try and influence you away from the gospel, the church, and service to God.

He will make you doubt if you are making a difference, he will cause you to question the worth of what you are doing for God, he will make you unhappy in your home life, your business life to affect your Christian life.
Satan is an insidious beast.
Doubt him and his existence at your own peril.
For he is real, he is working against the church, he is working towards his own goals.
Beware of him.

1Pe 5:8  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
1Pe 5:9  Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

However just as he is real, so is he defeated already if you nut resist him and his wiles.
If you can remain stedfast and true, comfort yourself with the knowledge that in the end he loses.
We know from Revelations that no matter what he does he does not, can not win.

Rev 20:10  And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

stay true stay stong, remain ever vigilant. Knowing that no matter what happens God's people shall stand triumphant in the end.
