checklist or change?

Psa_27:4  One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.

When you go to church do you go in looking for your checklist to be marked off? 3 songs? check.
Offering? check.
Special music? Check
30 min sermon? check
Great now I can get back to            ? Put whatever you are doing there that your mind has been on. Dinner, ballgame, family, going to the lake etc.

Psa_122:1  A Song of degrees of David. I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.

Has it become routine? are you merely required to be there instead of searching for the Spirit and the Word of God?
If there is a 4th song does it break you out of your reverie to say what's going on? I have to get somewhere?
If there is an hour sermon are you to busy looking at your watch to follow along?
Or can you set your alarm by the flow of the service?\

Do you have the passion for the singing of the praises of God, the Creator, God the Sacrifice for your sins, God the lover of your soul?
Or on you on a timer?
When the songs start are you there to lift your voice in praise or to check a box?
When the announcements are read are you planning your calendar or looking for a way to avoid the upcoming events?

Isa_38:20  The LORD was ready to save me: therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of the LORD.

Is there passion in your singing? The song service is not for the instruments to be heard. Nor are the songs for the singers. The Songs are for the Lord God Almighty. They are to set the mood, move the heart, and get the Spirit moving.
For God loves a good song of praise sung to Him by His people.

But we have turned it into a checklist, into a routine.

Aren't you glad God doesn't do us the same way?
Or does He?
Does He show up in your church? Does He show up in your service? Does HE bless and move in the service, in the hearts, in the music?

Act_20:9  And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.

Can you identify with this man? If the preacher goes long do you die in the Spirit? Would you be the one falling out of the window?
Does it put you to sleep or does the Spirit awake in you and raise you up to a new life, a new heart, a refreshed mind?
Or are you watching your watch when 12 o'clock chimes and it's time for the invitation song, time to pay attention.

You can go to the movies and follow a 3 hr movie. but a 45 minute sermon throws off your entire life.

Is church a check list? is it routine?
Or do you go to the house of the Lord with gladness and praise?
Do you look for the Spirit to visit or do you hope not to be called out on something by the Spirit?

Checklist or change?
Which do you enter church with a desire for?
