Wilt THOU revive us again?

Psa 85:1  To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah. LORD, thou hast been favourable unto thy land: thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob.
Psa 85:2  Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.
Psa 85:3  Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger.
Psa 85:4  Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease.
Psa 85:5  Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations?
Psa 85:6  Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?
Psa 85:7  Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy salvation.
Psa 85:8  I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.
Psa 85:9  Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land.
Psa 85:10  Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
Psa 85:11  Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven.
Psa 85:12  Yea, the LORD shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase.
Psa 85:13  Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps.

Lord wilt thou revive us again. This should be the prayer of every Christian. This should be the desire of every God fearing man woman and child.
I have said before that there are pockets out there of revival, you can see it and hear about it.
Yet many have never experienced it.

What is stopping the wholesale revival of this nation, this world?

We are.
The men and women of God that have become lukewarm.
The men and women of the church who have acclimated to this world.
We have accepted sin, and we have stopped speaking out about it.
We have made a mockery of God's Word because we do not believe it anymore.
I know I sound like a broken record repeating the same line over and over.
It is not any less true even though I say it time and time and time again.
We are the roadblock.

God is the same today yesterday and forever.
He has brought revival to this nation before, He has brought great riches to this nation. He has His hand on this nation.
We are now resting on His accomplishments as if we did something great.
We are the spoiled son of a rich man who thinks he is great when in actuality it is because of his dad. We have done nothing to earn it, we can do nothing to earn it, but our Father is going to pull our inheritance and our blessing if we do not get to work.

The people of this nation have forgotten the God of their Fathers. The people of this nation have turned from their first love.
When you read of the 7 churches in Revelations you can identify each and every one of them here in America.

God has somewhat against us. We have dried up. We have stopped working with the fervency of yesteryear.
We have looked out into the world and saw that we can't change it so we stopped trying.
We can not change this world. We can not change the hearts and minds of men.
God can.

When was the last time you read God's Word and was afraid? when was the last time you heard God's Word and trembled?
Will the next time be the first time?

Hab 3:1  A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth.
Hab 3:2  O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.

God is a God of love, He is a God of second chances.
He is also a God of wrath and judgement.
The same God that loves us destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.
The same God that sent His Son to die for us, sent the flood.
The same God that created the earth and the garden of Eden, created Hell and the fires, the torment and eternal darkness.
God will judge, He must judge.
He is no respecter of persons, He hated the sin before the flood, He hated  the sin of sodom and gomorrah. Therefore He must hate our sin.
Therefore He must judge our sin

He must judge us, for we have been found wanting in the Light of His Word.

I have heard in the last several weeks several preachers apologize for hard preaching. There was one apology that really stuck in my mind, and I paraphrase here " I don't like preaching hard because you are all good people."

Where in your bible does it say you and I are good? We are sinners.
It is only by the Grace of God that we have salvation.
Where in the bible does it say to preach softly?
It says to cry out unto God, it says to tell the people the truth.
Even among the big name preachers of yesterday you hear this, 'I didn't want to preach this harshly because I love you.'

Well Christ loved the people too, yet He told everyone He met you must repent.
John the Baptist preached repent, for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Jeremiah preached destruction.
Samuel got in Saul's face and rebuked his sin.
Nathan got in David's face and rebuked sin.

We must preach the Gospel and the good news of Christ. Yet we must preach sin.
We must tell the people of the judgement to come.
We must tell them of their sin, my sin, your sin.
We have all sinned and come short of the Glory of God.
We have all been born into this world with a sin nature and we have all sinned.
None of us are righteous.

The great revivals of old were not because the people were good enough, it was because they saw that they were not good enough. They realized that they needed God, they needed reviving.
They prayed as David did Revive us again. They started with their own sin, they started with their own uncleanness and asked God to forgive them, Cleanse them and redeem them from themselves.

They stood before a holy righteous God and said God I am a sinner. I have failed. It's my fault.

There you go. That is the answer. Stand before God and accept your failure. Recognize your failure.
Until there is a general recognition and rejection of sin by God's people there will never be a revival.

There can be no revival unless we will realize that we have died. I don't mean physically, I mean Spiritually we are dead. God has given us the Spirit, and we have starved it.
The Christian of today will never do that. The Christian of today has it too good here in America and that is why we are losing everything. We are losing because we quit fighting. We quit praying.

We will never have revival until you and I look in the mirror and say I am the problem.
Pray for God to revive you.
That's a start.
There can be no wholesale revival until there is personal revival.
Personal repentance.
Personal prayer.
Personal fear.

The same God that brought revival for Peter, Jonah, D.L. Moody, and Billy Sunday is the same God we have today.

Make your prayer for Him to revive you again.
Make your prayer personal., accountable for yourself.
Make your prayer for your heart.

He can work with one truly repentant person.
