If my people

Based on those few words you cam tell exactly the verse I am going to use here. It is kind of like the Christian safety blanket. We use it to show God can redeem us, that God can revive us in His Spirit. that God can turn this world around.

But why would He?

We don't need God.
We have our money, our jobs, food galore, and our comfortable homes.
We do Not need God.

Now you are going to say that is an asinine statement.
But is it?

We say we need God but the majority of christians today live as if God is a magic wish granter, We pull Him out in times of stress, trouble,or trial. The rest of the time He is an abstract that we refuse to adhere to, He is an afterthought. He is a word that we pay lip service to while not actually expecting Him to do anything, to object to what we do. He is a figment of our imagination according to the way most of us live.

In 2 Chronicles 7 Solomon is dedicating the First Temple. They are having feasts and sacrifices, they are seeing the Glory of God descend and all the people are astonished and swear to abide by the One True God.
Then God appears to Solomon by night and says:
.2Ch 7:12  And the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice.
2Ch 7:13  If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;
2Ch 7:14  If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

If my people.
That is a big Word. If. It says If my people. It doesn't say my people will, or should, it says If.

Which are called by name. Are you called? Do you wear the name christian or do you bear the cross of Christ? Or you in a show or are you a true follower of God?

Shall humble themselves, this is the hard part. Humble ourselves. Admit we need God and that we can do nothing without Him. We are nothing without Him. Humble. Do christians or people even know what humility is? True humility that says I am nothing without Him. We say that all the time, but in our heart of hearts do we believe? Truly believe that we are nothing without Him?

And pray, Pray, Prayer. Most of us pray like we are talking for the benefit of those listening. We pray as if we are talking to a wall not to the True God of Creation, the Master of the Universe. We walk before His throne as if we are entitled to an audience with the King. As if He owes us something. When in reality we owe Him everything and the fact that He even bothers to listen to us should be an earthshaking realization. The fact that God Almighty, would even allow us a moment of His time should stagger you to the point that if you are not on your knees you might fall from the crushing weight of your own unworthiness.

and seek my face. The true face of God. The face that Moses saw and then Moses shone like the shining Sun and needed to cover His face so they people did not go blind. The Face of God, the one that looks on us, through us and sees everything we do, every intent of our heart. The Face of God that will burn away the unworthy, and will make those who He thinks are worthy burn with their own inadequacy, their own failings, their own sinfulness.

And turn from their wicked ways. Turn from. To repent of. To see any action through the lens that God sees it. To turn from the idols, the sins, the actions and inactions that are wicked. To turn from means to turn to something. To turn to God and His righteousness, To turn from our thinking and to turn to His and to see how He thinks of us and what we do. To turn to What He thinks of us and to agree in thought and in deed with His assessment.

Then will He hear from heaven, When His people repent, humble themselves and pray then will He hear.
He will not hear until His people turn from what they want, what they think, what they do and become His Fully and totally.

This verse was given to His people by God Himself. It is still a relevant promise if His people but act upon it. Follow it. Live it.

But as I said at the beginning we do not need God. We see nothing that we ourselves, or modern medicine, or science, or money can not solve.
We are living on our own merits and talents.
We will never be able to achieve revival, or awakening in this nation until we start acting on this promise.
Until we see our need for God, our need for humility, prayer and repentance.

We say we need Him, but we do not.
We say we love Him but we do not.

If we did, we the true God fearing people of this nation would be a shining beacon of His pureness, His Holiness, His Righteousness.
If we did this nation would not be in the state it is.
If we did we would be a true Christian nation.

If my people. IF.

Are you ready to turn that IF into a have?
My people have humbled themselves.
My people have prayed.
My people have turned from their wicked ways,

Can you say have or must you say IF?
