What must I do to be saved?
Believe. That Jesus is the Son of God. The shed blood, the death, burial, and the Resurrection. That's it.
People know they need something they know they are inadequate, no good. Why must we convince them they are a sinner? They already know. All they have to do is believe.
All I have to do is believe.
All you have to do is believe.
The thief
Luk 23:42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
Luk 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
Philip
Act 8:34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
Act 8:35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
Christ didn’t call people dirty rotten sinners (except the scribes, pharisees and sadducees, them He excoriated unmercifully) He called them to Him.
Call on the name of the Lord and thou shalt be saved.
The drug addict knows they need something, the drinker knows they need something.
They just dont know what. They don’t know who.
That's why they are in drugs, that's why they drink, that's why they are chasing the dollar, that's why they are thrill seeking.
To fill the void, to find whats missing.
Christ is missing!
They dont need to be beat down and know how awful they are.
They probably already know thats why they are in drugs or in the beds of strangers or beer or whatever.
We are not here to convict or convince, we are here to tell them of Christ. The Holy Spirit will convict.
We are here to tell them of the name above all names.
We are here to preach grace and mercy for the sinner, not of the sinner’s sin, not of the complete blackness of their soul.
Christ died for them.
They need love and mercy. They need to know of one who loves unconditionally.
Of the One who can ease the burden, give joy and peace.
Preach sin to the ones who know. The ones who are saved and know what is right and wrong. Preach grace and mercy to the lost and unknowing!
Preach hellfire and damnation, but they must know of the One who can save. They already know they have a need.
They are looking for the answers, provide it to them.
Christ.
He is the answer.
Believe on Him, Call on Him.
Baptism? Not needed to be saved, but a step to tell the world we are with HIM..
Church? Not in the plan of salvation, but the saved shall serve there, praise there, worship there, recharge there, testify there..
The ceremonies, the rituals? Useless, except to remind us of what He did for us..
Look to Christ. He is all they/We need.
The name that burns in the heart. The name that brings peace. The only Name that can bring Salvation.
You may say I am not a preacher, how can I preach?
Then practice the love of Christ. Show them mercy and grace. Live a life apart, separated, consecrated to Him.
They need what we have. They will only know through us and the example we provide.
We must believe and live as if we believe.
Christ is the answer.
The way, the truth, and the life. No one gets to the Father except by Him.
