I know the title sounds a little sacrilegious yet it is true.
Twice in the bible certain men are told by God they are not alone. Often we are told through the Bible to "fear not." And to be of good cheer. God is our biggest fan when we are in His work and His Will. He doesn't just give us a job or a calling and walk away.
The Apostle Paul and the prophet Elijah both received encouragement from our Heavenly Father.
Many times I have brought up this despair, this aloneness feeling as we are frail, weak, and shortsighted - you might say myopic.
I am given to this feeling a lot as our nation slides down the slopes of ruin. As we sink deeper and deeper into the quagmire of sin.
1 Kings 19:18KJV
18Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.
Elijah had just witnessed, been instrumental in a mighty miracle Of God's. The nation was under sinful wicked leadership, Ahab and Jezebel were ruling the nation and leading them down the wrong road. Elijah had a mighty victory and ,as usually happens, immediately forgot the victory and power of God and entered into a valley of depression. Yet God answered Elijah with a count of righteous men and an exhortation, God knows we are frail and need validation and exhortation from time to time and He gives freely. Many times He is our biggest fan and we fail to see Him leading the cheers for us as we do His work.
Acts 18:9-10KJV
9Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: 10 For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.
Once again God is telling Paul, who has been stoned, slandered, and attacked in his ministry, that he is not alone and to stand tall and preach the Word.
God is not only our strength and our salvation, but He is also the prime cheerleader for us. He has called us and He leads us and He more than any other wants us to succeed.
Whether it is blasphemous, sacrilegious or not it is true!
God is our biggest fan. He and the angels are rooting for us, they are leading the hooting and the hollering when we have a victory, they stand at the ready to encourage, to fortify us, that through us His work might be accomplished.
This may strike at the very chord of those who feel we must be prim and proper, staid and rigid. Those who feel emotional outbursts are unseemly for our Holy and Just God.
Yet I promise you that you would be surprised at the cheers, the smiles from God when we succeed in His Holy name.
Don't lose sight of the fact that our Father is just that - a Father. He has created us in His image, and just as we root for our kids, so He cheers for His.
Remember how proud He was of Job in His talks with satan?
How proud is He of us when we stand in His might and in His power to do His good will?
