Manna

Manna from heaven, both a physical and spiritual subject in the bible.

In the Old Testament in the Exodus from Egypt the people were starving and God provided manna - a wafer like morsel that tasted like honey! The very first breakfast cereal.

Exodus 16:31-35KJV

31And the house of Israel called the name thereof Manna: and it waslike coriander seed, white; and the taste of it waslike wafers made with honey. 32¶And Moses said, This is the thing which the LORD commandeth, Fill an omer of it to be kept for your generations; that they may see the bread wherewith I have fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you forth from the land of Egypt. 33And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a pot, and put an omer full of manna therein, and lay it up before the LORD, to be kept for your generations. 34As the LORD commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, to be kept. 35And the children of Israel did eat manna forty years, until they came to a land inhabited; they did eat manna, until they came unto the borders of the land of Canaan. 

Now the people of Israel were fed 40 years, quail in the evening and manna in the morning. Fed from the hand of God.

Surely an enduring testament of the mercy of God.

Yet now today and forever we have manna from heaven. We have life given to us through Christ and His death

John 6:58KJV

58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

The Isrealites had a physical food delivered to them for 40 yrs. yet they eventually grumbled about it. For we as humans get weary of the same ole / same ole. God sent them quail and manna, this was their diet for quite some time.

We do the same with the spiritual manna we have been provided. We start looking for a new message, a new thrill if you will.

A new way to get to heaven, a new "god" a new whatever.

Why? Because we are fickle, we are human, we are finite. 

The Bread of Life taste becomes complacent in our lives.

Because we need tangible proof, a physical symbol. Faith is a mighty thing, it takes a lot to maintain a high level.

We have our manna from heaven in the word. If we feed ourselves daily we shall be full. 

If we remember our past, learn from it and know that God has blessed us, will bless us we can maintain our faith and our zeal.

John 20:31KJV

31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
