In the story of Martha, Mary, and Lazarus we have faith, but a very limited faith.
John 11:32 KJV
32Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
She knew Christ was a great prophet, and worked many miracles, but she did not comprehend who He was.
She knew He could have (past tense) fixed things but she failed to know He could (present) fix it.
She knew Jesus but failed in her comprehension of Him.
I am not downplaying Mary or Martha, they did have faith and never in history had a man been raised from the dead. So to them the concept was foreign.
Yet they failed in the most important aspect: they did not recognize Christ as God. Just as a man.
We do the same today we fail to see God and Jesus as who they are.
God almighty, the creator, the Holy One.
He is not some far away distant being who could have fixed things.
He is God.
He can fix all according to what He as omniscient God sees as best, He can fix whatsoever He will to further His plan, in His time, and in His way.
Phillipians 2:13KJV
13For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Do you know of God?
Or do you know Him?
Do you know of Christ's saving work on the cross?
Do you daily kneel at the cross of your salvation?
Do you know Him?
