Praying with a safety net

How many times do we pray "if it be your will". How often do we give ourselves a safety net by using this phrase? How often do we give ourselves an out? Well God didn't answer so it must not be His will.

How often do we fail to pray in the power of the Spirit? How often do we just mouth phrases? Pray for people to hear with no feeling, no thought, no actual concern, more worried that we might actually be called on to do something instead of just pray. How often are we hogtied by our own laziness, our own lack of want to. How often do we fail to pray in power for fear of actually having to get up and be an agent of God?

1Kings 36:38KJV

36 And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.

37 Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LordGod, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.

Elijah didn't pray if it be your Will, he prayed knowing it was God's Will that the people would know Him, as God Almighty. He didn't give God an out, he prayed believing in God Almighty.

Praying is communion with God, speaking to Him, listening to Him to better pray in His Will.

James 4:3KJV

3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

We ask as if we have a Christmas list, or a birthday wish.

We do not ask in the power and might of the Holy Spirit so that God Almighty might be glorified and honored but that we might benefit.

That's not praying, that is the attitude of a spoiled child.

We must learn to pray to God in His Will, His Mind that these people might know that He is Lord God Jehovah.

James 5:15-17King James Version (KJV)

15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

Pray like Elijah as if the fate of this world depends on it.

It does.

Pray as if God wants to let all Know He is God.

He does.

Pray as if your are God's child.

You are.

Pray for the power and glory of God to shine forth. pray in the might of God. In the Will of God. In the interest of God.
