A clean slate

Lately the things of the past have been cropping up in my mind. That's generally what satan does when you are moving in a direction he doesn't want you to go. To be fair and honest though sometimes it is our own minds that plague us with mistakes/stupidity of the past.

This gives me pause to contemplate the forgiveness of sin. Christ died for us, once we are washed under the blood we are not sin free but we are free of the eternal consequence of sin. We must still pay the price for the effects here on earth but we are children of God through it all. Once we ask Christ into our hearts and accept Him as our personal savior we have a clean slate.

We still have our past, we still have to own our mistakes of the recent and long ago past but recrimination for mistakes paid for and confessed has to stop, for in God's eyes those things no longer exist. In His eyes we are born at the moment we ask Christ to come in. That is the beginning of life for the believer. Once we are in His His hands we are safe from that eternal destruction known as the pit of Hell.

John 10:27-29 KJV

27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

This then is the proof of eternal security, we can lay down at night knowing that we are saved always and forever.

In John 3 Christ tells us that we must be born again, that we must be born of the Spirit. This then is the birth into the family of God. This then is the clean slate. When you are born you have no history, you have no identity, you have no record.
Once we are born again (Spiritual Birth) the Father sees us and knows us. While we may err from time to time (or in my case moment to moment), we do have fellowship with the Father. We have His guidance, His hand on us His Love and His Family to help us.

So then what to do when the past haunts us? what to do when the mistakes are paid for and 30 years later you remember the stupid simple things you did? What to do when you kick yourself for things that no longer matter or are no longer relevant?
Realize It is all under the Blood! Things before you were saved do not matter in the eternal record, things after you were saved do matter in the sense of unforgiven sin, but under the blood God sees only the Blood of Christ that paid the price for us. The Righteousness of Christ and the sacrifice He made covers us. Confession and repentance, in mind and body, clears of us those sins we commit after salvation with the Father. You must bear the consequence here, but there all that matters is what you did or didn't do to further His work.

If you did something that lands you in jail - God can forgive and give you a clean slate but you still must serve your time on earth. If you did something 10, 20, 30, 40 , years ago and are now under the blood do not let satan deceive you. If you were saved when you did the things that pop up in your mind, Do not let your mind dwell on it. You are under the Blood. If you have confessed it to God -- let it go.

We are saved to serve, we are saved to a full life, spiritually. We are saved and set free from sin. Yet sometimes we put ourselves back under the sentence of satan because we lose sight of that fact. We are SAVED.  We have a Father who, if He will not blame us, then who has the authority to blame us?

Romans 8 King James Version (KJV)

8 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

So the nest time you are attacked either by satan or your own sinful nature about past history remember you are under the blood.

If you have  not received that clean slate then please do so today and receive the peace from God that passeth all understanding. You can be forgiven and start anew on the road of life.
